Miss Roderick to Leave for Summer in Europe By CHERYL WALKER Glenda Koderick, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bryce Roderick, 2800 N. Main, has been invited by Col. and Mrs.

Firmin Remience of Arlon, Belgium, to be a guest of their family this summer. She will leave train tomorrow for Kansas City, the first stop on her summer adventure. So many things to think of with passports and visas in order, plane reservations, gifts for the Remiences and their three daughters, new graduation luggage and new camera. "I am so excited! I can hardly believe the" time is here," commented Glenda as she was busily packing yesterday. "I will try to be a good ambassador fo Garden City, for Kansas and for my country." Colonel Remience suggested Glenda's visit in his Christmas letter to the Rodericks but they kept it a secret from Glenda until March. His daughter, Jackie Remience, was an American Field Service exchange student living with the Rodericks in 1965-66, and the Remiences are all desirous of meeting Glenda. Glenda will take a six-weeks motor trip with their family and visit six countries of Europe Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, France and Italy, on their annual summer vacation. While in Belgium she will visit the historical points interest of World War II at Brussels, Bruges, Antwerp, Bastogne and Luxemburg.

They will leave Arlon on the Fourth of July and they will drive to Italy through France and Switzerland. They plan to Mrs. H. P. Woeiiendyke, 1215 Pinecrest, received word recently of the death of her only brother, Harold Bortner, at his ranch near Tucson, Ariz.

Mrs. Woertendyke had vacationed there during recent winters. Handy Bowlinv, son of Mr. and Mrs. D.

BASIC stay three days in Paris, will visit Venice and Florence, Italy and will stay 20 days at Rccione, a summer resort on the Adriatic Sea, six mies south of Rimini. Glenda will be a good ambassador to Europe as she won a $300 scholarship in the "Voice of Democracy" contest sponsored by the Veterans of Foreign Wars here. She received top rating in the district speech and drama and attended the state where she received a II rating. She was president of Kayettes and also Kayette Queen the past year. Glcnda was president of the Senior High Methodist Youth Fellowship, was student director of the high school musical production "Oklahoma" and had a leading character part in the all-school play "You Can't Take it With You." The Rodericks gave Jackie Remience a subscription to the Garden City Telegram when she returned home last year.

Jackie says that it has helped her with English. When Glenda returns here on August 8, she will be accompanied by Francois Remience who will attend Garden City High School in the senior class next winter. Both Glenda and Francois will have their 18th birthdays in July.
