JM* and Mrs Russell Pickeil and Mf* and .Mrs Everett Baldus spent a recent weekend at Des Moines and were guests of Mrs Pickett's brother-in-law and sister, Mr and Mrs W. D. Hemmingsen. Mr and Mrs Julius Peterson Were visited last weekend by their son-in-law and daughter, Mr and Mrs Harold Anderson of, Pennington, Minn. From here they went to Hot Springs, Ark., and v/ill stop here for another visit enroute home. Mr and Mrs Mellvin Christensen, Mr'and Mrs Robert Carney and Mrs Heinie Fisher spent the day at Rochester, recently, where theV visited Mr; Fisher who is at St. Mary's hospital. Mr Fisher's condition is improving steadily, but he will remain there for a few more weeks. . Mrs Bob Chambers, Mrs Mary Lytle and daughter, Jeri, took the former's father, Jess Riddle, to the train at Perry where he started a return trip to his home at Pomona, Calif. Mr Riddle had spent the week here on business and visiting following a routine checkup with doctors at Kansas City, Mo. First Baptist Sponsoring A Week's Mission The First Baptist Church of Algona will hold its annual Missionary Conference next - week March 18 through 25 (Sunday through Sunday). The Wycliffe Bible Translators, Glendale, ,Cal« will conduct the conference. • Five „ Missionaries, who have labored on the jnjssion fields of Southland' North -America, will bring news from their respective fiejds, in pictures both slides and films, through messages by the missionaries themselves,, and through curio displays of objects brought back from the countries where they labored. Dale JV. Kietxman, extension secretary for the Wycliffe Bible Translators will lead in the missionary activity of the week. Mr Kietzman has been a member 01 the Wycliffe Bible Translators since 1946. He served for several years in Peru, in the Amazon Valley. He has also served in Mexico. The First Baptist Church extends a cordial welcome to Algona and the surrounding communities to participate in its missionary conference. Services will be held nightly ;,t 8 .o'clock', morning services through the week Tuesday through Friday at 10 o'clock. Children's meetings •vill be held Monday through Wednesday at 4 o'clock. The Missionaries will be in charge of all Sunday Worship services. Sunday School and youru; people's gatherings. The meeting was opennd with two songs, '^Brighter! the Corner Where You Are." and "Clementine." After a short business meeting, a delicious lunch was served by the hostesses. The next meeting will be Tuesday afternoon. April 3id at the home of Mrs Minnie Larsen. Mr and Mrs David Bolie visited at the Earl Zwiefel home Thursday evening. Zane Heifner of Boyccville, Wis. was an overnight guest at the home of Mr and Mrs Earl Zwiefel Monday night. " Mrs Donald Ringsdorf, Mrs Elvira Christonsen und Mrs Roger Schmidt went to Fort Dodge last Tuesday to shop.
