He attended the high school I for three years, finishing here about five years ago. He graduated from the veterinary college last spring with a mark second in his class. Concerning the accident that killed Dr. Struthers, the Merced Sun says: One of the most shocking accidents occur in this section lately happened at about 9:30 o'clock this morning at the Crocker ranch on Bear creek, a mile below town, when ir. Herbert W.

Struthers was kicked a horse and died a few minutes later. Dr. Struthers was called to the Crocker ranch this morning to dress a wound which a farm horse had received on a disc plow. The animal had sustained a severe cut on the right hind leg and Dr. Struthers was engaged in taking a few stitches in the wound when the animal drew up his leg and kicked viciously, the full force of the blow striking the doctor on the solar plexus.

Dr. Shruthers was hurled six or eight feet ami fell on the ground unconscious, from which he never rallied. Dr. J. L.

Mudd and Dr. H. Kylberg were called and drove to the ranch, reaching there a few minutes after the ac cident. The two physicians worked over the prostrate man for more than an hour in an endeavor to revive him, but to 110 avail. Dr.

Herbert W. Struthers was 24 years of age. He came lo Merced about 10 months ago and established himself in the practice of his profession, that of veterinary surgery, and was enjoying a splendid business. During his residence in this city he endeared himself to a very large circle of friends, to all of whom his death will come as a great personal shock. He was a member of the local lodges of the Woodmen of the World and the Fraternal Brotherhood, in both of which he carried insurance.
