construction on the eastern turnpike next spring Bonds were sold in October for the $31 million 402 mile project between Henryetta and -McAIester It is scheduled for completion In April 1966 Hie firm of Graves Lampkln Walker Inc Oklahoma City will furnish engineering services- for the design and construction of 202 miles of the new toll road Curry Engineering Co Muskogee holds a similar contract for 20 miles Cobb Engineering Co Oklahoma City will do the design work on 16 bridge and grade separation structures Hendrix Engineering Co Inc Tulsa will furnish similar services on six bridge and grade separation structures Glendenlng and Associates Inc Oklahoma City will design nine bridge and grade separation structures Oklahoma Testing Laboratories Tulsa waa named testing engineer for the furnishing of sampling borings and testing services for the entire route Fees for the two section engineers for the 202 and 20-mile sections will be 65 percent of the contract construction cost Bridge engineers win receive 65 percent of the contract cost plus an additional 1 percent of the low bid on any structure where the engineer must prepare alternate designs for structural steel and prestressed concrete beams The testing engineer will receive 9 percent of the contract construction cost Harold Bevans of Menard Texas is visiting In the home of his son Jim and Mrs Bevans Mrs Brice $118896 14046 acres in 26-11-17 Onapa Death Probe Slated By Coroner County officers feared foul play this week In the death of Lonzo Shatswell 65 years old Onapa Went whose body was found frozen beneath the show in the yard of his home Deputy Sheriff Williams of Checotah Investigated the death and said that an autopsy would be performed In Muskogee by Dr First local coroner In an effort to determine the exact cause of death said that evidence points to the fact that a stove' used to heat his home exploded sometime Sunday night Williams theorized that Mr Shatswell had poured kerosene over hot coals in the heating stove and spilled part of the kerosene which soaked up his clothing and spread over the floor In attempting to light the stove with a match the fumes ignited and set his clothing on fire He is believed to have run into the yard and collapsed where his body became frozen in the sub-zero temperatures His body was found by neighbors Monday morning Officers were puzzled by several angles of the Shatswell death Although a large hole was burned In the floor of his 2-room house the fire for some reason went out or was put out It was not established whether any money or other valuables were missing from his home Mr Shatswell's unde Steve Shatswell was severely beaten by intruders at his Onapa home about two years ago who robbed him of cash hidden on the premises Hie robbers were later captured and sentenced Funeral arrangements under direction of Smith Funeral home are incomplete Survivors include a sister Mrs Gertrude Griffin of Onapa Mr Shatswell was a veteran of both World War I and World War IL Elm Grove Club Meets Tuesday Members of the Elm Grove HD club and their families met at the Elm Grove Baptist church December 17 at 7 for their Christmas dinner the holidays with his parents Mr and Mrs Thomas.
