COAST CHAPTER PRESENTED Mrs Jayroe gave a history of Coast Chapter 51 Order of the Eastern Star Gulfport at the meeting Monday evening in the Masonic Temple The chapter was organized October 1908 and Mrs Jayroe presented many interesting highlights showing the growth Refreshments were served from a table decorated with Halloween arrangements flank-by lighted orange tapers in crystal holders circled with Japanese persimmons Halloween candies and cookies in crystal platters completed the decorations at one end of the table while at the other end was the crystal punch bowl holding yellow punch to complete the Halloween decor Mrs Craddock presided at the punch bowl and Mrs Kennedy Mrs Ryland and Mrs John Galloway were hostesses with Mrs Craddock organizational meeting was held on Oct 8 1965 An event of the evening was a limbo contest won by Jan Randall and Mrs Dick -Junior Auxiliary is pledged to a program of service and profits from the ball will be Mtilizad for local benefit Serving with Mrs Stanbro were Mrs James Stephens Dick co-chairman and coordinator Mrs David Walch tickets Mrs Richard Allen publicity Committee members were Mrs George Smith Jr Mrs Eaton Lang Mrs colored fish net further accented the stage Tables covered with white clothes were centered with champagne hot ties spilling over with multi-colored surpen-tine which flowed the length of the tables sprinkled with confetti At each table was a miniature streamer trunk containing favors for the guests Tables were marked with Bon Voyage place cards representing ocean liners Dr Taylor Jr introduced Mrs Norman Lee Stanbro ball chairman Mrs Stanbro introduced the president of the chapter Mrs James Stephens Dick and presented her with a bouquet of roses from the members of the Auxiliary The ball represented an anniversary for the Pass Christian chapter as the first Colonel Sanders invites you to celebrate Columbus Day membership will be entertained and served coffee and doughnuts In the Marine Room following the business session He said the meeting was expected to last one hour Chauncey Hinman will show a color film he produced of the year of activities and awarding of certificates will take place at the session A membership report was given by assistant manager Leroy Eastes He said 16 individual members had been contacted for dues in September and five home offices of corporations were being contacted He said 27 members from chamber records are to be contacted in the future 24 had either not wanted to continue membership or requested the chamber call again at a later date and six Eastes said were not interested in the recently-adopted plan In all the chamber collected dues for 67 members in September and Eastes noted 84 are due in October Sam Williams chamber manager said he was pleased think the membership has accepted tills fair share plan very Cmdr Norman Martinson attending Ms farewell meeting expressed his appreciation to board members for the cooperation of the chamber particularly in the past six months during increased activity at the US Naval Construction Battalion Center which he commands Commander Martinson who next month will assume
