februaiy I 1950 Tlw Pally Herald Mori and Gulfport Mississippi FIFTEEN Slain Alabama Woman Buried A Second Time SILAS Ala (AP) The body of an attractive mother was buried a second time yesterday Funeral services were held at the Silas Methodist Church for Mrs Irma Lee McPhearson whose wealthy husband John McPhearson Is charged with murder in her death The services were attended by about 400 the approximate population of this pine belt town in south Alabama They in-eluded McPhearson's mother Mrs Rosa McPhearson and his brother probate Judge Richard McPhearson John McPhearson 33-year-old timberman told Sheriff Connie Littlepage he shot his wife accidentally a week ago during struggle over a 30-30 caliber rifle He said the struggle followed an argument over terms of a divorce they were considering McPhearson said he panicked and left the body In woods where they had gone to look over land he planned to clear He said he returned the next day and burled her body in an abandoned well under 12 feet of dirt He said he used a -bulldozer McPhearson had Littlepage come to his home Monday and told him of the slaying The body was recovered early Tuesday after 7V4 hours of digging Circuit Solicitor Wyman Gilmore said the state has evidence to back up a first degree murder charge just don't believe it was an accident the way he he said McPhearson is in Choctaw County jail at Butler without bond while officers continue their investigation He did not attend the funeral He and Mrs McPhearson married 14 years had four children They are Jane 13 Joan 10 and 3-year-old twins Jimmy and Johnny BRAND HEW!
