ily will move to Mrs. Dot Har. rison's home on South Main. Rail Cuts Into Car George W. Coffel, 18, Amoret, escaped serious injury Thursday afternoon when his 1956 Chevrolet convertible struck a county bridge.

Coffel was driving west on the John Brown highway miles northwest of Lane. He hit the bridge 'and was just missed by a concrete rail that went through the floor of the car, between his legs and under the seat. Coffel stated to sheriff's authorities that he was going down the hill and blinded by the sun. He said he went to the north side of the road and got into the grav. el.

Coffel said he could not pull back on the highway to avoid hitting the posts in front of the bridge and ran over two posts and broke off three concrete posts and railing on the bridge. Coffel was held in the car by a safety belt and suffered only a cut on the lip. The car was considered a total loss. Sheriff's authorities made no charges in the accident. Tax Shares Sent Out Franklin County has received $10,599.61 as its quarterly share of the distribution of one million dollars by the state in gasoline taxes.

The tax is distributed quarter. ly each Oct. 1, Jan. 1, April 1 and July 1. Cities within the state share $625,000 from the one-cent tax.

The radio hams will set up three transmitters early Satur. day morning and begin trans. missions at 8 p.m. They hope to converse with operators in most of the 50 states and pick up some foreign countries. The transmitters will be about 50 watts, according to Nancy Kendall, club secretary.

Last year the club talked to Costa Ricans, Miss Kendall said. This is the third year for the field day, she added. The transmitters will be set up in the Wolf Creek area on the north side of the dam. Miss Kendall said that persons in the area are welcome to observe the club's activities. Most of the club's 30 members are expected to utilize the radio setup.
