purchase proposal that might open the way for the CBC to buy its first television stations in Saskatchewan was placed before the a a 1 a Radio-Television Commission yesterday A proposal for the sale of controlling shares in CIIAB-TV Moose Jaw and C11RE-TV Regina was presented at a public hearing of the CRTC Moffatt Broadcasting Ltd and Randall Moffat company president would gain control of the two TV outlets In the proposed 8815000 transaction Jack Moffat Randall's unde Is the proposed vendor of the shares Randall Moffat proposed special conditions In the transfer because of CRTC policy adopted for the member stations of the CTV television network Both CHAB-TV and CHRE-TV are CTV stations CRTC policy is that no person or group shall control more than one station in the CTV network where each station has a single vote in network affairs Randall Moffat noted that the I policy was adopted after both CHAB-TV and CHRE-TV had been members of the CTV network But a further complication would come about if the transfer was approved because Moffat Broadcasting had an interest in CJAY-TV Winnipeg another CTV station He proposed that if the CRTC approved the transfer Moffat Broadcasting NOON 3: Love of Life 5 Jeopardy 6: Serial Six 7: Minirama 8: Bachelor Father 8(C) 10: News logue in which Anna the principal dolly involved held an imaginary conversation with her married lover saying all the things she dared not say in reality: go I want to understand God I hope you're not getting it somewhere else And there was a wonderful scene in which he suggested two stolen weeks together abroad He didn't promise but just the hope was enough to make her happy and compliant again The astounding performance of Janis Young a Cleveland-born actress who studied at LAMDA on a Fulbright was the strong backbone of the Toronto-produced play Cheating a blonde mini-skirted sexpot wanted by everyone loved fully by no one lonely yearning nearly crazed by the strains of the affair she cast a neon-bright light over Dolly which kept me wilting even eager to sit out the show But it must be admitted that between the high points there were inexplicable low points in English playwright John Hopkins' acutely observed drama Perhaps it needed condensing But even more important than the 85-minute length was the distraction of real television commercials borrowed from English advertisers which freauently stopped the action mid-scene I don't know if the playwright specified this treatment or whether it was the brainchild of producer-director Mervyn Rosenzweig but I do know it was superfluous These commercials which showed the usual fat-cat life of the soft-drink bubble bath ads had a message Anna's dreams they suggested were fantasies inspired by ad writers But in fact dreams were not at all unusual or artificial unless London is so advanced that wanting to get married is now considered frivolous Nor were her yearnings substantially different from those girls far removed from the swinging scene Television has enough to bear you saddle it with responsibility for the Other Woman that goes back a year or two And while on the subject of the play why can't we find a Canadian playwright to give us a Montreal or Toronto-backed dolly scene? According to all reports London is at the moment the most amoral of the international fleshpots but rumors have reached me of a diluted but authentic North American version We'd reel closer to a New York dolly scene even than a London one French-speaking Canadians have been known to allude I believe to our English connections Why do they bother? We make the point so well for them Seven on Six William Zeckendorf one of the prime movers in the construction of Flace Ville Marie is in Montreal today to participate in the environment planning conference Eulhenix at the Place Bonavcnture Eager to interview him Zeckendorf contribution to development has never been fully recognized Seven on Six discovered his schedule is so tight that they agreed to meet him at the airport and drive him down town At the crack of dawn (practically) co-host Peter Desbarats stuffed the biggest limousine he could find with a camera crew and headed for the airport all in the interests of 20 minutes of seclusion and show Educational TV on 9 Vermont Educational Television broadcasts which include rich material from US National Educational Television (NET) have been available for about three weeks to National Cablevision subscribers They come in on Channel 9 where until now there was only music time and weather Information Lloyd Mansell of National Cablevision says about 15000 subscribers west of Park avenue can now tune in these programs (East of Park avenue since Expo 25000 subscribers are receiving programming in French originated at National Montreal studio on Beaubien street) Judging from many telephone calls received subscribers are enjoying the service which opens each morning with school programs After a blank afternoon period they resume at 6:45 each evening with drama features (last night a film on director John Huston) interviews cooking with Julia Child and a variety of ballet music art history and other programs At the moment planned to continue these broadcasts indefinitely but the picture could change as pressure on available channels becomes acute TONIGHTS RADIO t-m PM Twlltaht Tima TUB PM Rriaht Light!
