North AIR CRASH VICTIMS: One of the first women of the air force to lose her life in a flying accident, Leading Airwoman North was killed with Flight Sergeant Hashim when their plane crashed near North Battleford, on Friday.

The daughter of Earl North, of 3559 St. Famille street, and of the late Mrs. North, Leading Airwoman North, 22, was educated at Cote des Neiges School and Strathearn High School. A member of the Mansfield Girls' Softball team, she was employed by Henry Birks Sons (Montreal) before enlisting in December, 1942. Beside her father, who is a veteran of the last war, she leaves three sisters.

Flight Sergeant Hashim, 24, is the son of Mrs. Hashim, of 6960 at West Hill High School, he was a graduate of McGill and a Sherbrooke street west, and of the late M. K. Hashim. Educated chartered accountant.

He enlisted in the army in 1941 and later transferred to the R.C.A.F, where he became a pilot instructor. He attended Mount Royal School, and worked as a machinist before joining up in 1943. He went overseas in December of that year, and is serving in the 49th (Loyal) Edmonton Regiment.
