Mrs. Eslinger has many friends who wish her a completed and speedy at the Heights last evening when Victor Klest, of Shamokin, paid fines and costs. As the story comes from the Heights, Klest and a number of his friends treated several Marlon Heights men rather rough on a recent visit to Shamokin.

Last evening Klest went to Marlon Heights and in Rick's poolroom was recognized as one of the men who didn't show the Heights youths the right kind of hospitality when they visited Shamokin. An argument ensued, but before there could be much display of fists, Klest was arrested by Chief of Police Mike Swinko and lodged in the borough lockup. Carmel were made by two students of the borough who attend high school at Mt. Carmel at the meeting of the Kulpmont school board Tuesday evening. Misses Stella Peril and Mary La-haza represented the hundred or more scholars who daily ride to and from their Kulpmont homes to Mt. Carmel. They pointed out that the same cars used to transport miners going to work In the morning are used for service for the students and that they have found that clothing has been damaged.

The board listened to the plea of the two young women and withheld a decision. It was said today that it Is altogether likely that the will resort to the plan used before the special cars were chartered for the students. This plan was to have the students pay their own fares and then be reimbursed by the district at the end of the term. The board paid bills contracted during the month. Aside from the appeal of the students, there was little further business to come up for Rector of Kulpmont Episcopal Thomas Rafferty, former Kulpmont native and a brother of the late Michael Rafferty, who had been president of the Kulpmont council, died at his home in Texas, according to word received yesterday by Mrs.

Michael Rafferty. There were no details In the brief message as to the cause of death nor funeral plans. Mr. Rafferty was 45 years of age and had been living in Texas for a number of years. He was unmarried.
