Long Beach, Page 30. THE INDEPENDENT: Coast Table Tennis Championships Begin Next Week Deadline for entries in the Pacific Coast Table Tennis Championships has been extended to 6 p. m. Wednesday night, it was revealed Saturday by tournament chief John Hanna. Play starts next Saturday.

With 40 entries including five from Western Canada already turned in, there is strong optimism at tourney headquarters that the field will surpass the 100 mark before the entry deadline. A terrific. battle is already' assured for the, men's singles crown with nine of California's top 10 ranking players entered. Hoping to crash the NemesHanna-Nelson monopoly will be Leonard Abrams, pint-sized giant killer from Pasadena; Philip Hurst; Lee Freeman, who lost former national champ Lou Pagliaro in the finals of the Southern California Championships last May; Lee Korf; Bernie Kleiner, winner of the recent Poinsettia Club Tournament, and Bill Wells, hard-hitting poker-face from New York. Roadster Drivers Test Huntington Beach Oval Southern California's top roadster drivers will test the new clay track at the Huntington Beach Speedway this afternoon, when some 15 members of CRA racing fraternity open the new stadium with some trial spins.
