Smyre. W. 1). periods of suffering I would be eonfuaeU- I read many of the statement about Peplax given by well known Carolina men ami women as well as people froar every corner of the two states, and now I know that they spoke accurately. Not only do I feel so much but the relief that Peplax brings is lasting.

I certainly feel fine nowadays." "Nothing can be added to such a c1cm cut statement as this," said Dr. A. M. Steinberg, discoverer of Peplax, who is personally introducing and explaining Peplax here. "Peplax contains eight of the bes known Nature remedies designed! not relieve one organ alone, but to purify and invigorate the entire digestive tract stomach, liver, kidneys ami intestines and make the system act regularly ami naturally to throw off the waste that clogs the digestive tract anil prevents the development of a better digestion, more strength, purer blood and eai nerve vigor.

Weak, nervous, run-down men and wo men may learn all about Peplax by caN ing at the .1. H. Kennedy Drug Store. They can learn how Peplax should bo taken and the results to be expected froth its Use. "People Surely Have Been Stating the Truth," the Rev.

Scruggs Now Declares. It certainly is the truth that so many well known people have been saying a-bout this medicine Peplax. I wish everyone would be sensible enough to test this remedy. This was the splendid endorsement given for Peplax by the Rev. T.

W. Scruggs, of Lykesland, H. a few days ago. How rare it is for a minister to publicly endorse a medicine but, within a week, Peplax has the astonishing record of having been unqualifiedly praised by two ministers, for it wns less than a week ago, that the Rev. J.

F. Kelly, of Dentsville, told of his fine experience with Peplax and advised others to take it. "In the last four years I have tried many medicines for my stomach trouble," Kev. Scruggs told. "I felt no relief from these medicines only just at the time of taking them.

This was not what I wanted, I lecnuse the effect was not lusting. "I suffered from an acid stomach, this caused gas, bloating and pains and created such nervousness that during the We DISBPRSKMKXTS Installments matur ed Installments withdrawn 19.74:!. 1.1 Invite your business and assure you in advance of every courtesy and accommodation consistent with safe Banking. 236 West Main Avenue. PHONE NO. 50. MONDAY, FEBRUARY 24, 1919. SCOUT EXAMINATION.

i Interesting Exercises Held Friday Night by Troop No. 3, When Scouts Sam Davis and Lawton Spencer Were Advanced to First Class Splendid Ad dress by Mr. J. B. Steere, of The scout examination held last Friday night l.v Troop No.

proved a revelation to a number of civilians who accepted tin1 scouts invitation to attend the meeting. Scouts Sam Davis and Lawton Spencer fully demonstrated their ability to comply with the various tests proposed. fjowry Miller acted as chairman of the meeting. After having the National color presented and the pledge of allegiance recited by all present, Scout Mangum recited the Scout Laws and Scout Murrey Atkins gave the Scout Oath, these to acquaint the public with the basis of the rout organization. Scout Veil Leader, Murray Grier led a lusty yell for "Mr.

Steere and everybody," Mr. Steere being the honor guest of the occasion. The two candidates for first-class honors were then presented to the Court of Honor composed of ('apt. N. L.

Balthis and Dr. J. C. Galloway, and took seats opposite the court. The chairman then called oa Scoutmaster Babington to inform the court of the tests to 1k passed and conduct the examination.

Under First Aid the scouts demonstrated artificial repira-tion, gave examples of bandaging, impro-. vised stretchers, much to the interest of the spectators. No cooking was dory SS that test had already been complied 'with in the 0111, but bread baked on a willow stick was exhibited which was scrutinized carefully by the ladies Each scout read an account of a 14-anile hike they had made with one other seout describing in detail the things oh serve 1. Maps made by the scouts were presenfal to the court for inspection, were also certificates from their teachers at school saying that tliey were model boys. They were also required to read a government map which they had never seen before.

The scouts exhibited knowledge of several of the principal constellations and the North Star also a number of native trees. They presented well- built bird boxes to show their handiworks The last test proposed was perhaps the most difficult, that of reading a message from a buzzer set, the message being sent is the dots and dashes of the International Morse code. Scout Spencer however was equal to the occasion and chalked up with celerity on the blackboard a message of greetings to the boys written by Capt Balthis and signalled by Seoutmas ter Babington. Mr. J.

E. Steere, Scout Executive of Charlotte, was then called upon and addressed the meeting. Mr. Steere delineated worth-whiteness of scouting and siade an appeal for more adult leaders. There are hundreds of boys in Gastonia who should have the seout training and would gladly enter the movement if leaders were available.

Troop No. has asany applications for membership which it cannot act upon on account of the amber allowed in each troop by National headquarters being limiited to 32. After Mr. Steere 's address, short talks were made by Mr. S.

A. Robinson, Dr. Galloway, Prof. Grier and others. After adjournment, the two successful candidates were warmly congratulated by their friends.

By the middle of May, whefl swimming tests can be conducted, Scoutmaster Babington predicts that 20 or more boys of the troop will have passed the difficult test for first- lass honors.
