urday evening at Jackson street and Blue avenues by Patrolmen Lafe Hoy and Edward Jenkins charged with prowling and carry ing concealed weapons When taken into custody Hill was carrying a knife with a four inch blade sticking in his belt po lice report Hill was arrested on July 23 on a similar charge and about three months ago was arrested for breaking and entering the Morri son Motor company building Main street The juvenile was released after admitting both previous charges police claim He is being held in the detention home and will be arraigned in ju venile court Monday morning Carl Conrad Baker 53 well known former resident of Zanes ville and general manager of the Baltimore Md plant of the Na tional Biscuit company died at 4 o'clock Saturday afternoon at a Baltimore hospital following an operation performed Thursday News of his death comes as a shock to his many friends and former business Associates here Hp had been ill for only three te weeks prior to the operation Mr Baker was ranager of National Biscuit company office in this city until he was tranferred to Baltimore in April 1934 He was a son of the late William and Louise Stolzenbach Baker and was born in this city His father was founder of the Baker Bread company of which Robert Baker orest avenue is now president He received his early education in the Zanesville schools and upon completion of his second year in high school went to the Montclair academy Montclair He later enrolled in the Rochester Business college Rochester His aca demic training was completed in 1908 with his graduation from Sheffield scientific school of Yale university In September 1908 he became associated with the National Bis cuit company and served the com pany in the Buffalo Phila delphia Pa plants In 1912 when Mavsvillp nikp Lnnum Zanesville barber was killed and his wife and two others were severely injured early Saturday evening when their automobile overturned into a ditch near Reliance Mr and Mrs Brown residents of this city since 1905 were enroute to the Pacific coast with Mr and Mrs John i Bonsall of Canton when the acci dent occurred Mrs Brown and Mr and Mrs Bonsall were removed to a Cham berlain hospital following the wreck in which Mr skull was crushed Mrs Brown sustained a broken collar bone and internal injuries while Mr and Mrs Bonsall who were less seriously hurt received cuts and bruises and were also suf fering from shock Mr Brown retired on May 27 from the barber shbp at 27 North ourth street which he had op erated for 27 years He was a na tive of Gallipolis and a veteran of the Spanish American war Moved to Cambridge ollowing his discharge from the army he moved to Cambridge where he met Mrs Brown and became acquainted with Mr and Mrs Bonsall In 1905 Mr and Mrs Brown moved to this city but remained in close contact with the at Cambridge and Canton Many years ago the couples formed the custom of taking au tomobile trips together and this excursion was in 'celebration of the 25th anniversary of their first trip Included on their itinerary for this year were Yellowstone Nation al park Grand Coulee dam the Pacific coast the San rancisco exposition and a return trip over the southern route They had intended to be gone for six or eight weeks this year and had planned the trip for many months Previous excursions had been of much shorter duration Mr Brown was a member of the Veterans of oreign Wars and of Amity lodge and A His re tirement from the barber shop in May was for the express purpose of taking the trip which ended so tragically Among the survivors are a mar ried sister in Columbus and a half sister Mrs Anna Hallwood of Piqua Is Returned to Reformatory Cell Marysville July Grim faced Velma West came back to the Ohio reformatory for
