Our Eight-Page Edition --An eight- page editioa of THE NEWS is issued today in commemoration of the Chris- maa holidays. Burner's Funeral--Mrs JEliz abeth Burrier, widow of the Jate Solomon Burncsr, of Frederick county who died on Wednesday, at Woodberry, Carroll county, aged 80 yeari anc 5 months, was buried yesterday from the Methodist Episcopal Church. Mrs Burrier was highly esteemed by al who knew her. The pastor, Rav. Dr. Diehl, will deliver a sermon suitable to the occasion. nEFOHMED CHUB.CH. The exercises at this church will consist of the following: A Christmas Eve childrens' festival service in the church, beginning at 6.30 o'clock, p.

m. The church has been tastefully decorated with evergreen garlmds, autumn leaves, to which were added to day two Christmas trees, laden with gifts for the children. The service will consist largely in the rendering of joyous Christmas carols, the awarding of premiums, the distribution of gifts, together with a short address. The entire service will be under the direction of the pastor. There will be an early Christmas service in the church; the last bell will ring at a quarter before 6 a The service will be opened by a processional hymn on the part of the children of the Sunday school.

Special music has been carefully prepared. The large and trained choir for the occasion will be assisted in rendering the music by seven or eight members of the Fredsrick Cornet Band, with selected instruments. There will be a Festival service on Christmas night at Harmony Grove Union Chapel, at 7 o'clock p. m. The chapel has been handsomely decorated and a special programme has been arranged for the occasion.

On Sunday morning and evening the church services will be of a character, with special music prepared for the occasion. TRINITY M. E. CHURCH. The programme of the Christmas Festivities of Trinity M.

E. Church, on Friday evening, December 24th, 1886, commencing at 6 30 o'clock, is follows: March, "Glorv to God;" Prayer, Rav. J. 0. CHURCH, At All Saints' Protestant Episcopal Church, the Festival of the nativity will be obserted with the full Christmas service, at 11 a. followed fcy the Holy Cuaimunion, and sermon by the rector, Rev. Osborne Ingle. music, under direction of Miss Annie Campbell, organist, will be rendered by double quartette choir, embracing very fine selections.

Gerrish's "Te Deum Laudaimu," in A flat; Locke's Christinas Anthem, "Glory to God;" "Glorias" from Turle, Bennett ami Mendelssohn; Fidelia," "Shout Glad Tidings," "Ilurk the He.ald Angels" and Miis Campbell's arrangement of "Venite Exultemus Domino" and Benedictua. The offortory will be devoted to Dome'-tic Missions. The Sunday School will hold their Christmas celebration on Monday night. The program will embrace a number of joyous carols, presentation of offerings and an dress by the rector. ST.

JOHN'S CATHOLIC CI1URUI. will as usual commence in the St. John's Catholic church Christmas morning at 5 30 o'clock. Theie will also be services there at 10 o'clock a. m.

E. CHURCH, EAST CHUBCH STREET. Special religious services will be held the Methodist Episcopal church, East Church street, on Saturday morning at 6 o'clock. All are invited to attend. On Christmas evening at 7 o'clock the Sabbath srhool, in charge of a special committee, will give a public entertainment in the main audience room of the church, to which the public are cordially invited.

The committee will spare no pains to make it an occasion of great pleasure and profit, as a beautiful and elaborate programme has been prepared for that evening. The regular services of the church will be held on Sabbath next as usual. ST. JOHN'S REFORMED CHURCH. The following is a schedule ef the services to be couducted at the St.

John's German Reformed church on Christmas day: Services at 10 o'clock in the morning, at the conclusion of which the sacrament will be administered to the congregation. Christmas anthems especially practised for the day will be sung by the choir. On Monday evening Dec. 27th the Sunday school attached to the church will hold their annual festival in Kemp Hall, commencing at seven o'clock, which will consist of recitations, addresses, rendering of Christmas hymns by the scholars, and last the distribution of gifts. LNITED BRETHREN CHLRl H.

Christmas day will be celebrated in the U. B. church, on Christmas day in the afternoon at 2 30 o'clock in an appropriate way. There will be erected a handsome Christmas tree, containing the treat of candy, also the gitts in envelopes. With this there will be appropriate services the singing of hymns and recitations by the scholars and an address by the paatoa.

SALVATION AKMY. At the Salvation Army barracks, Fourth street, there will be special Christmas services at 3 o'clock in the afternoon in the evening and at 7.30 o'clock, Captain and Mrs. Miles will be present and conduct the exercises. Tbe services will have especial reference to the anniversary of Christ's birth. MISCELLANEOUS.

Christmas day Santa Glaus will present each member of the Smuday school presents from two beautifully decorated Christmas trees. Much of the time of the meeting of the Philo- mathean Literary Society at Armory Hall last might was occupied by business connected with the constitution, but nevertheless the special Christmas program wai well rendered and proved to be extremely interesting. The meeting was very well attended.

December 23d, after a lingering illness, Eddie, youngest ef Reuben and the late Alice Shank, of Baltimore, died at his home there. He was aged 11 years and 1 month. The family are well known in this county. The remains of the deceased will be brought to this city for interment. Eli Summers, son of Henry Summers, on the Mount Philip farm, northwest of this city, died last night about 7 o'clock, of heart disease.

He waa about 28 years of age and much respected by his many friends. Harry, the two-year-old son of Mr. G. Clinton Winebrener, of Walkersville, this county, died to-day after a short illness. He was a bright and interesting child and the parents have the eincerest sympathy of their friends in their bereavement.

The funeral will take place to-morrow. We were pained to learn today of the death of an old subscriber, Mr.C. F. Bowersox, of near Doub's Switch. Mr.

Bowersox died at au early hour this morning of consumption, being in his 57th year. He waa a gentleman of sterling character and waq highly honored and esteemed by all who knew him.
