Cain, at No. 5 Pino street, was entered by burglars and a sum of money amounting to $70, belonging to Mr. Lee Morton, a brother-in-law of Cain, was taken. The thieves evidently effected on entrance through the front window to the sleeping-room occupied by Morton by means of a tree that stands within reach of the window, and which must have boon climbed, nud by it an easy ac cess to tho room was gained. On rising Saturday morning, Mr.

Morton found his vest and pants, which lie had left hanging on tho bed, lying near the window and his purse on tho floor, which had been abstracted from the Inside vest pocket, and from it tho sum of $70 had been taken. The thieves hail also, it seemed, taken the pants to tho window, but had, fortunately for tho owner, left undiscovered tho large sum of $500, which was in the pocket, having boen perhaps frightened away in some manner before they had time to search them or had overlooked the booty altogether which was contained therein. Some tlmo in tho night he was conscious of hearing slight, noise In tho house, but thinking nothing strange of It, had gono to Bleep again.
