Judge Stull goes up to Nebraska City, to-day, to attend the meeting of the centra! committee of this judicial district. Aunt Celia Ann Pavey is lying sick at the residence of W. S- Clark, her son-in-law, Nemaha City, and there is small hope of her recovery.

We notice that A. R. Davison, cashier of the First National Bank, has been drawn as one of the TJ. S. grand jurors for the term beginning In Omaha on the 10th prox.

Our esteemed fellow-citizen, Mr. Jacob Rauschkolb, who has been for a month at Mineral Springs, endeavoring to recuperate his impaired health, has returned home with improved health and ready for business. His old customers will find Jacob at the same old place handing out wet goods of the best quality in his Hue. Nebraska City Col. Tom Majors, of Peru, our Contingent Congressman, has fired the first gun in our show to commence the 9th of next month.

He sent to Major Pearman, the secretary of the fair, a half bushel of as fine apples as were ever grown, to be placed on exhibition at the fair. Nemaha county takes the lead, and Col. Tom has the honor of making the flrt entry. Louis Lowman, the "old regulator in clothing, fash-ons, and ladies' goods, departed for Chicago, Wednesday morning, for his new fall goods. He anticipates a rousing fall trade he appreciates the situationpeace and plenty.

His fall stock will therefore be commensurate with this Idea larger and of richer goods than usual. For the most fashionable goods and patterns his customers should await Mr. Low man's return. Of course he will be brimful of every other kind of merchandise, and for further particulars see his new double column advertisement. Falls City Journal We regret to say that Miss MoIIie Furnas, daughter of es-Gov.

Furnas, on account of physical indisposition, has found it necessary to tender her resignation as principal assistant of our public school, which position she rilled during the past year. The fact that, on recommendation of Prof. Rich, she was unanimously re-elected, by the board, to thesame importantpoition, is sufficient evidence that her labors in the schoolroom were attended with good results and general satisfaction. Miss Furnas was also anefllcient worker in the Sabbath School aud ready, at all times, to assist in carrying forward anyenterprise calculated to promote the public good. Her many friends here will be truly sorry to learn that she has been compelled to retire from the school.

H. S. Kaley, of Red Cloud, Nebraska, was in our city Tuesday of this week. Mr. Kaley is a candidate, subject to the Republican State Convention, for Attorney General, and seems to be pretty well satisfied with his prospects for the nomination.

Wo met Mr. Kaley during his sojourn here, for the first time, and were pleased to make his acquaintance. We found him to be passably good-looking, and a very intelligent and pleasant gentleman. He is a young man of about 35 yeara, married, a good lawyer with au extensive business in his district, enjoys the confidence of his people and will come up stron from that section. We think him as suitable for the office as any that has been named in its connection and if he succeeds in getting the jiomiua-tion, we can give him our cordial support.
