Mel was born in Sydney Nova Scotia on July 6, 1924. He moved to Winnipeg from Montreal when he was thirteen. After graduating from Kelvin High School, he spent three years with the Air Force and then attended the University of Manitoba. Most of his many years with Canada Safeway were as a store manager and he retired from the customer service office at the age of seventy.

Everyone will miss Mel's incredible weird, wild, wacky, witty sense of humour. If he didn't catch you one way, he'd find another. Because of this, we will miss most of all, his laugh and his smile. Mel's greatest joy, pleasure, and pride was his family. Missing him are his: Daughter Bonnie Popowich, husband Darryl and their sons Dean, wife Cheryl and their children Jordyn and Zackari, and Andrew, wife Cassandra and their children Cameron and Rachel.

Son John, wife Christine and their son Christopher. Son Gordon, wife Sandy and their daughters Megan and Leah. Son Brad, wife Nancy and their son Alex and daughter Cierra. He will also be remembered by his sisters-in-law Ethel (Wally), Bette (Ray) and Shirley (Carl), and by Jean's sister, Mel's sister-in-law Peg (Harold), cousin Jan Fardy and husband Jim, Jean's brother Bob Simpson and his wife Joyce, and sister Fran Charbonneau and her husband Joe, in addition to many natural and self-adopted nieces and nephews. Monday, December 28 Chapel Lawn Funeral Home 4000 Portage Avenue Peacefully, on Monday, December 21, 1998, at the Grace Hospital, after a lengthy illness. Flo was born in Stonewall and spent her childhood in Starbuck, Manitoba. She enlisted in the Airforce during the Second World War. In 1946, she moved to Winnipeg, and began work in the x-ray department at Deer Lodge Hospital. There she met Murry Lunn and they were married in 1947.

Then she began a new career as a mother to daughter Judy. In 1961, she returned to work at Deer Lodge Hospital in the dietary department until her retirement. Murry and Flo shared many trips together over the years, and in later years, some of their trips were shared with their grandchildren. During the last ten years, Flo devoted her life to caring for Murry, after he was stricken with Alzheimer disease. Two years ago when she was no longer able to take care of him due to her failing health, she made daily visits to give him his lunch and visit him at Deer Lodge Centre.

In October, she was admitted into the Grace Hospital where she remained until her passing. Flo was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Murry, a month ago, and her only sister Wynne Williams in 1997. She leaves to cherish her memory daughter Judy (Doug) Kapitany, granddaughters Michelle (Phillip) Bloom, Megan (Jason) Dahle, and great granddaughters Hayley, and Sydney. Flo was a very generous, giving person, always helping anyone in need. She loved writing poetry and doing crosswords.

Flo and Murry's favorite time was Christmas and they went out of their way to make it special for everyone. Now, they will be together this Christmas. Together Forever. The family would like to thank the 3 North staff at the Grace and the Doctors who attended to her. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, December 28, 1998 at 3:00 p.m.
