DEATHS CENTRAL ILLINOIS (Thomas Bennett PONTIAC (PNS) The funeral of Thomas Bennett, 89, who died Wednesday, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Raleigh J. Harris Funeral Home, the Rev. Stanley Murdoch officating. Burial will be in Southside Cemetery, Pontiac.

Visitation will be at the funeral home an hour before the service Saturday. Mr. Bennett was born Dec. 26, 1892, at Rooks Creek Township, a son of George and Martha Douglas Bennett. He married Mabel Bauknecht Oct.

14, 1914, at Pontiac. She survives. Also surviving are two sons, John, Pontiac, and Charles, Dar Esalum, Tanzania; a daughter, Ruth Benoliel, Redmond, two sisters, Mabel Hawthorne, Ottawa, and Mary Bilek, Ventura, 18 grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren. A brother preceded him in death. Mr.

Bennett had farmed in Rooks Creek Township until retiring in 1955 and moving to Pontiac. He served as executive director of the Livingston County Housing Authority until 1971. He was a member of the board of supervisors of Pontiac Township and a member of the Livingston County Soil and Water Board. He was a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge and a member of the First Baptist Church. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donors choice.

Cecil Leo Cox BEMENT Cecil Leo Cox, 83, of the Bement Manor Nursing Home, Bement, a retired farmer, died at 9:45 Thursday at St. Mary's Hospital, Decatur. His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Stensel-CalvertBelangee Funeral Home, Farmer City, Pastor John Haney officiating. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m.

Saturday in Myers Cemetery, Jewett. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. tonight. Mr. Cox was born Jan 21, 1899 at Areola, a son of Alexander and Alice Wishard Cox.

He married Dorothy E. Fuller Dec. 27, 1927 at Kankakee. She survives. Also surviving are six sons, Edgar, Monon, Dale and Robert; both of Farmer City; Ralph, Urbana: and Walter and Ronald, both of Rensselaer, four daughters, Helen Brown, Tracy City, Joyce Baker, Bement; Peggy Harris, Marion, and Diann Shannon, Denver, two sisters, Cloa Richi, Effingham; and Cleo Cox, Indianapolis, 28 grandchildren, six stepgrandchildren, and six stepgreatgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, a grandson, two sisters and two brothers. Memorials may be made to Cornbelt Lung Association. Nannie Mae Womack PONTIAC (PNS) Nannie Mae Womack, 96, of Livingston Manor, Pontiac, died at 8:57 p.m. Thursday at the manor. She was taken to Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Chenoa.

Frederick Malsch MINIER (PNS) Frederick 'Henry' Malsch, 79, of 406 N. Pennsylvania Minier, a former Minier police chief, died at 3:45 p.m. Thursday at St. Francis Hospital Medical Center, Peoria, after a short illness. His funeral will be at 2 p.m.

Saturday at McReynolds Funeral Home, Minier, the Rev. Joe Bray officiating. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Stanford. Visitation will be from noon until the time of the service Saturday at the funeral home. Mr.

Malsch was born Jan. 26, 1903, in Woodford County, a son of August and Theresia Beck Malsch. He married. Nora Hulvey Jan. 5, 1926, at Bloomington.

She died Aug. 30, 1980. Surviving are a daughter, Norma Morrison, Pekin; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters. Mr.

Malsch was a member of the Illinois Police Association and was a Tazewell County deputy sheriff. He was a member of the Minier Christian Church, Minier. The Illinois State University's Association of Latin American Students will sponsor a cultural night beginning at 7 p.m. April 9 in the ballroom of the Bone Student Center, ISU. The Mexican band Epoca Zuinta, Chicago, will provide the evening's music and the Chicago folk dancer, Alma de Mexico, will present a dance program during the band's intermission. An entry fee will be charged.

Vern Hannah, 85, a native of Fisher, died Wednesday at Burnham Hospital, Champaign. His funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at Lux Memorial Chapel, Rantoul.

the Rev. David Wall officiating. Burial will be in Willowbrook Cemetery, Fisher. He was born March 14, 1897, at LaPorte, a son of Robert and Mary Haines Hannah. He married Wilma Warner Feb.18, 1920, at Danville.

She survives. Also surviving are two sons, Meredith, Fisher, and Duane, Foosland; three sisters, Vertie Sitts, Dewey; Bertha Summers, Urbana; and Alice Elsworth, Durant, Iowa; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, a brother and three sisters. Mr. Hannah was a member of the Fisher United Methodist Church, and had retired from farming in the Fisher area.

Memorials may be made to Fisher United Methodist Church. Thomas L. Mulcahey DELAVAN (PNS) Thomas L. Mulcahey, 58, rural Delavan, died at 6:20 a.m. Thursday at St.

Francis Hospital Medical Center, Peoria. He had been ill several months. His funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Woolsey Funeral Home, Delavan, with the Rev. George Baldridge officiating.

Burial will be in Prairie Rest Cemetery, Delavan. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Mr. Mulcahey was born Sept.

14, 1923, in Henry, a son of James F. and Catherine E. Ebright Mulcahey. Survivors include a brother, Millard, Delavan; and two sisters, Katie Strong, Lacon, and Roberta Allen, Delavan. Mr.

Mulcahey worked at WABCO Construction and Mining Equipment Group, Peoria, for 26 years and also farmed near Delavan. He was a member of the National Farmers Organization. Memorials may be made to Lacon Rescue Squad 52 or the Delavan Ambulance Fund. Louis G. Chambers ROBERTS (PNS) Louis G.

Chambers, 98, of 257 W. Orleans Paxton, who farmed north of Roberts for 60 years, died at 8 a.m. Thursday at The Greenbrier Nursing Center Champaign. His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday a at the Knapp Funeral Home, Roberts, the Rev.

James Litteral officiating. Burial will be in Lyman Cemetery, Roberts. Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Mr.

Chambers was born Nov. 30, 1883, at Roberts, a son of Robert B. and Anna E. Thompson Chambers. He married Janie J.

White March 29, 1905, at Roberts. She died in October 1971. Surviving are a son, Robert Piper City; a daughter, Anna Mae Thompson, Bayles Lake, Loda; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. Two brothers and a sister preceded him in death. Mr.

Chambers was a member of the Congregational Christian Church of Roberts to which memorials may be made. Wilma Thompson MAHOMET (PNS) Wilma Thompson, 45, of Mahomet, died Wednesday morning at Mercy Hospital, Urbana, after an extended illness. Her funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Owens Chapel, Champaign. Burial will be in Garrett Cemetery.

Vistation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. tonight at Owens Funeral Home, Champaign. Mrs. Thompson was born July 3, 1936, at Arcola, a daughter of William and Pearl Shelton Ernst. She married Elmer Thompson July 3, 1952, at Decatur.

He survives. are a son, Steve, Mahomet; two daughters, Lori, at home; and Brenda Davis, St. Joseph; three brothers, Henry and Joe, both of Arcola; and Richard, Wilbur, a sister, Mary Curzan, St. Joseph; and two grandchildren. She was a member of the Mahomet Nazarene Church.

Wednesday at Proctor Hospital in Peoria. Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Mason Funeral Home, the Rev. Robert T. Hughes officiating.

Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Peoria. Visitation will be an hour before the funeral service at the funeral home. She was born March 1, 1899, in Chenu, France, a daughter of Pierre and Alphonsine Robert Lamaureux. She married John Pfeffinger in Chenue in 1922.

He died in 1958. Survivors include a sister in France; and a cousin, Ben Pfeffinger, Washington. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Washington. She met her husband while acting as an interpreter for Gen.

John J. Pershing in World War I. Russell Thomas MANSFIELD (PNS) Russell E. Thomas, 67, of Waynetown, formerly of Mansfield, died at 6:35 a.m. Wednesday at his home.

His funeral will be at 10 am. today at Thomas Funeral Home, the Rev. Dermon Winger officiating. A graveside service will be at in Dunkard Cemetery, Mr. Thomas was born Jan 15, 1915 at Mansfield a son of James and Mary Clark Thomas.

He married Lolamae Viles Feb. 17, 1943. She survives. Also surviving are four sons, William, Owen, and John, all of Waynetown; Edward, Princeton, four sisters, Helen Smith, Marshall, Mary Oetven, Tolona: Catherine Ferris, Williamsport, Pauline Miller, Wingate, and five grandchildren. Mr.

Thomas was a retired farmer, and a member of the Waynetown Christian Church and the Local American Legion Post. He was an army veteran of World War II. BLOOMINGTON NORMAL Ruia D. Lyle The funeral of Ruia D. Lyle, 79, of 1007 Park Bloomington, who died Wednesday night, will be at 11 a.m.

Saturday at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, Bloomington, the Rev. Richard Bennett officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Bloomington. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at Beck Memorial Home, Bloomington, and from 10 to 11 a.m.

Saturday at the church. He was custodian in Bloomington District 87 schools for more than 20 years. Mr. Lyle was born Feb. 23, 1903, at Pierce, a son of James N.

and Sarah F. Bishop Lyle. He married Ruby McFarland on June 2, 1928, at Houston, Mo. She survives. Also surviving are three sons, Paul, 501 Pine Normal; Gene, 1807 Hoover Drive, Normal; and William, 500 S.

Linden Normal; a daughter, Ruby Hopwood, Springfield; a brother, Cova, Glasgow, 18 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. A son and four brothers preceded him in death. Mr. Lyle retired in 1968. Bloomington public schools he worked in included Bloomington High School and Washington and Franklin elementary schools.

He was a member of St. Matthew's Episcopal Church. Legion sets meeting LEROY The McLean County Council of the American Legion and Auxiliary is scheduled to meet at 8 p.m. Monday at the Legion Post Home in LeRoy. Oriental Rug Lecture Rich Demanes will present movie and lecture on Oriental Rugs at Demanes Interiors Rug Room, April 16, 17, 18.

Lectures will begin at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 14, 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Saturday, May 15, and 1:00 p.m. Sunday May, 16.

Wyman's manuscript, "Immigrants in the Valley: Irish, Germans, and Americans in the Upper Mississippi Country, 1830-1860," was accepted for publication by NelsonHall Chicago.

Michael J. Stevens, assistant professor of psychology at Illinois State University, has written an article which has been published in the Journal of College Student Personnel. The article, "Maximizing Athletic Performance: A Consultative was co-aurthored by ISU Student Couseling Center counselors Cliffor Gordon and Karen Pfost. Illinois State University professor of plant ecology, Roger C. Anderson, has written an article recently published in the Southwestern Naturalist.
