Minnie Hollenbeck has received word of the birth of a grandson, September 18, to Mr. and Mrs. Marion Funk at Greeley, Colo. Mrs. Funk formerly Miss Lelia Hollenbeck.

The first basket-ball game of the season was played Friday afternoon Smithton and Green Ridge boys and girls. In the game Green Ridge 38 to but in the girls game Green Ridge lost to Smithton. A deal w'as made this w'eek, whereby Fine Kendrick becomes owner of the Mr. and Mrs. Kendrick, who have been living in Sedalia the past year will occupy the Murphy property in the south part of town.

Olin Rains and father, A. J. Rains and A. H. Harris attended the ball game at Sedalia Sunday.

Mary Hastil in company with her brother, W. Lingle and wife, of Clinton, spent Sunday with their sister Mrs. Rose Earley at Sedalia, Mrs. Hastie accompanied her brother to Clinton on Monday for a short visit. E.

C. Vogelbaugh, Geo. Kyd, Arthur Ernest Ryan and L. L. Ream assisted the Sedalia M-K-T Band Saturday at Parsons.

Logan and Deputy Sheriff Claude Walthall left Tuesday for Clinton to be at the trial of Eaton, Norman and Breshears for the murder of John H. Sorrell. Miss Verna Riddle has been taking a business course at Springfield, has received the position as bookkeeper at the Osage Valley Bank. Chester Ford and Guy Groomer ran into a ditch Sunday night near the Wm. Hirsch place and turned the car over.
