Imry" irttaoirTO) 4 FRIDAY, SEPT. 3, 1982 DW Houseman's one-man show TONIGHT ON TV to open series at Millikin the group's albums are "Black and i v. AP DECATUR John Houseman and his Acting Company, the Pointer Sisters, and Mummenschanz will bethe attractions in Millikin University's Convocations Series, sponsored by the students of the Decatur school. Houseman, a co-founder of the famous Mercury Theater along with Orson Welles, will recreate his memories of experiences with such performers as Welles, Ingrid Bergman, dancer Martha Graham, and others in a one-man show Oct. 6.

In recent years, he is best known for his role as Prof. Kingsfield in the movie and television versions of "The Paper Chase." The Acting Company, for which Houseman is artistic director as well as a co-founder, will perform Shakespeare's "Pericles" at Millikin on Feb. 13. A melodramatic piece, It features riddles, shipwrecks, dreams, lost relatives and happy reunions. The company, which consists of 17 actors, is the national touring repertory troupe of the John F.

Kennedy Center, Washington, DC. Ruth, June and Anita, the Pointer Sisters, will perform Nov. 13 at Millikin. Their songs range from rock through swing and jazz. Among White," "Priority," and "bnergy.

Mummenschanz, a three-member pantomime troupe, will appear April 6. Andres Bossard, Bernie Schurch, and Floriana Frassetto are the performers. All are Swiss, and their use of masks, body wraps and everyday household objects to entertain audiences is in the Swiss comic tradition. All programs will be at 8 p.m. in Millikin's Kirkland Fine Arts Center.

Only 500 series tickets are available for sale to non-students. They will be available at the Kirkland box office beginning Tuesday. The Chicago-based group is the only company from the Midwest to be invited to the monthlong French Festival International de Danse.

Other American companies at the festival will include the American Ballet Theater and the Washington Ballet. The dances the Hubbard Street troupe will present in Paris were premiered to Chicago audiences last fall during a gala performance at the Goodman Theater attended by Queen Beatrix and Prince Klaus of The Netherlands. Nine dancers will perform in Paris. The Hubbard Street dancers, whose choreographic style is a blend of ballet, tap, and jazz, also have been seen in a special program carried by PBS television stations.
