Maurer, 57, founder and senior partner of the Maurer Motor died unexpectedly at 12:25 p.m. Friday at his home, 29 Cypress Drive.

He had been under a doctor's care. His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. John's Catholic Church, the Rev. Stephen Kasovic officiating.

Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation begins at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Pullen Boos Funeral Chapel. The Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. He was born Feb.

1907, at St. Marie, a son of Jess and May Woodard Maurer. He married Margaret Knecht Oct. 24, 1923, in Lincoln. Surviving are his wife; a son, James Clinton; three daughters, Mrs.

William B. Smith Mrs. Duane Harris, Clinton; Mrs. Robert Stine, Leadville, his parents, Kenney; a sister, Mrs. Paul Reed, Cerro Gordo, and 12 grandchildren.

Mr. Maurer was a member of St. John's Catholic Church. He had been in the automobile business 28 years. Playground Term Near Final Week The eighth and final week of the summer program will begin Monday on Bloomington's eight supervised playgrounds.

A full schedule of regular recreation activities will continue through the final week. Boys meet in the morning, girls in the afternoon, on alternate days. A closing program is to be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Miller Park, according to Howard Haug, director of playgrounds. The summer playgrounds are financed by the Mayor's Youth Activity Program.

A new addition to the fair this year is the 4-H Fun Lane. Carnival game booths will be operated by 18 4-H clubs. Clubs will participate for trophies and to earn money for their treasuries and for the fair. Game booths will be open from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 2 to 5 p.m.

Thursday. The food stand, operated by the Tazewell County Homemakers Extension Association, will be open during the entire show. The 4-H County Federation is again operating the cold drink and concession stand. Two Homes Sold By Washburn Families WASHBURN (PNS)-Mr. and Mrs.

Clarence C. Carter sold their home to Mr. and Mrs. Gary McCully and will soon be moving to Elgin, Illinois, to be near their son. Mrs.

Velva Davis sold her home near the grade school a family from Germantown who will move here in late August. Mrs. Davis has rented the Harper apartment. Roberts Hires Five Teachers ROBERTS (PNS) There will be five new teachers in the Roberts Thawville Community School Unit when opens Monday, Aug. 31.

Miss Sheila Smith of Minier, a June graduate of Illinois State University, will teach vocal music. Mrs. Inza Thompson of Piper City has been hired to teach in the primary grades. Mrs. Thompson received her degree from ISU and has 17 years of experience as an elementary teacher.

Normal W. Reams, who has been principal of the Onarga Grade School for the past nine years, will teach fifth grade. He received his master's degree from Southern Illinois University and has 13 years experience as teacher and elementary principal. Bronson Beasley, originally from Gibson City, will teach eighth grade and social studies. He received his master's from the University of Illinois and is working for a doctor's degree in education.

He has seven years of experience as a teacher. Mrs. Joyce Uebele of Roberts has been employed to teach half days in the high school in the math and English departments. Maxson Heads Legion Post CHATSOWRTH (PNS) Millard Maxon is the newly commander of Walter Clemons American Legion Post for the 1964-65 year. Other officers elected include: Joe Van Antwerp, senior vice commander; Harry Birkenbeil, junior vice-commander in charge of membershi; Cur- tis Stoller, finance officer; Lloyd Shafer, chaplain; Noble Pearson, service officer; and Edmund Propes, sergeant atarms.

At the July meeting, the Unit donated $35 to the Chatsowrth Boy Scouts to purchase pup tents. They also voted funds to the Dwight High School Band for the 1964 convention in which they will participate. HARTSBURG Mrs. D. J.

Minch of Hartsburg and her sister, Mrs. L. J. Short of St. Charles, left Monday to spend a week in Emden in the home of Mrs.

Minch's son and daughter-inlaw, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Minch. MASON CITY Miss Nancy Tongate of Sebring, Fla. Wednesday was visiting with the Bill Whittaker family.

The Tongates are former residents of Mason City. She expects to be here for two weeks. Miss Ann Lynn returned home Tuesday from Lessburg, where she has been visiting with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Daryl Mathers since school was out.

George Tomlin and son of Fern Park, Fla. and Mr. and Mrs. Willard Tomlin of Orlando, will leave for their homes Monday, after visiting here with their father, Ralph Tomlin, for two weeks. Mrs.

Sheriff's ar- Four Motorists Lose Licenses In State List Four Central Illinois motorists are without operator's licenses, three for drunken driving convictions, according to the secretary of state's office Thursday. Three licenses were suspended, and two drivers previously suspended or revoked were granted probationary permits to drive. Charged with driving while intoxicated were Howard S. Fretty, Paxton; Charles L. Bennett, Easton, and Donald L.

Jackson, Washington. Kenneth J. Clothier, 20, of 1415 Clinton Blvd. lost his license by revocation for permitting fraudulent use of it. Three violations resulted in suspensions for Lee A.

Evans, Washington, and Donald K. Guthrie, East Peoria. Driving while his license was revoked or suspended resulted in a suspension of Harvey E. Kaufman's driver's license. Kaufman lives in Danvers.

Dennis E. Shults and John A. Yentes, both of Pekin, are back on the highways with probationary permits. Through the first six months of 1964 a total of 30,590 operator's licenses were suspended or revoked as compared to 407 for the same period in 1963. Secretary of State William H.

Chamberlain cited improved reporting of traffic law violations convictions by courts and vigorous enforcement of traffic laws by state and local police, for the increase in suspensions and revocations. Court OK's Assessments For 2 Jobs Assessment rolls were approved without objection Friday in McLean County Family Court for two Bloomington improvement projects. One is the pavement of Barker Street from Congress to Tokio, the estimated cost of which is $8,780, with 14 property owners to pay $3,607. The other is an $11,836 water main installation on a U.S. 66 service road to Pepsi Cola Bottling plant.

The one property owner involved will pay $2,790. the Public remainder benefit of funds will bear costs in each project. ODELL Mrs. Prinnie Wilson was reported in Satisfactory condition Wednesday at St. James Hospital, Pontiac, following a sudden illness at her home Monday night.

Miss Emma Beiswinger left Wednesday for her home in West Point, after spending six weeks visiting with her sister, Miss Elizabeth Beiswinger. Mr. and Mrs. Julian Yender returned home Tuesday after a month's trip to Iowa and Joseph Weber of rural Odell returned to his home Tuesday from St. James Hopsital, Pontiac, where he had been a patient.

He arrived July 25 at Mennonite, Hospital, the brother of Kirby, 4, and Lane, 2, and has been named Derek in honor of his Dutch ancestry on his father's side of the family and Kipling for Rudyard Kipling on his mother's side.

Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Oliver of Cleveland Heights, Ohio, and the late Mr.

and Mrs. E. N. Hansell of Leon, Iowa. Named after his father was Todd Richard Rhoda, 7 pound son of the Richard Rhodas of Chenoa.

He arrived July 23 at Fairbury Hospital, the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Atkins of Chenoa and Mrs. Merlyn Kemp of Bloomington. Greatgrandmother is Mrs.

Rose Erhardt of Pontiac. Air Force Capt. and Mrs. Thomas Marquardt are parents of their first child, a son named Timothy Allen Marquardt. He arrived July 23 in Savannah, where the captain is a dentist in the Air Force.

Marquardt of Ruskin, Fla. and Cushing, former Bloomington residents. Timothy Allen, who has the same initials as his father, weighed 7. pounds at birth. David Le Roy Myers was the name given to the 8 pound, 1 ounce boy born July 24 in Mennonite Hospital, to Mr.

and Mrs. Lyle E. M. ers of rural Arrowsmith. He is a brother of Kenneth Lyle, 22 months old, and was named for two paternal uncles, Ivan Le Roy Myers of Deer Creek and William David Myers of Florida.

His grandparents include Percy Poole of rural Arrowsmith and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Myers of Deer Creek. Teresa Ann Walker, second youngster in the family of Eugene and Mary Walker of 605 W. Washington, is a sister of Douglas Eugene, who is 31.

They are grandchildren of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Wick of Danvers and Walter T. Walker of 901 S. University, Normal, Teresa weighed 7 pounds, ounces at birth July 26 in Mennonite Hospital.

HOPEDALE (PNS) Three new teachers have been added to the staff of Hopedale Community Unit Schools. Mrs. Diane Baumruk Peterson will teach first grade, replacing Miss Mona Naffziger, who retired at the end of the last school year. Mrs. Peterson has taught at Cardinal Drive School in Palatine and is a 1964 graduate of Illinois State University.

Her husband is grade school coach at Mackinaw. They will make their home in Hopedale. Miss Jill Rylander replaces Mrs. Ann Bresnahan as vocal and instrumental instructor in both the grade and high school. She is a 1964 graduate of Illinois Wesleyan University with a major in instrumental music.

A Rockford native, she will direct the choruses and band. Gerald Denight has been named athletic coach. He will teach boys' physical education and drivers education, with behind-the-wheel driver education being added to the curriculum this year at the high school. He is a graduate of Western Illinois University with the class of 1964 and is a native of Green Valley. Booker Gets Carbondale Promotion CORNELL -Wayne Booker, son of Mrs.

C. C. Booker of Cornell, was appointed to assistant chief of police at Carbondale by the city council Tuesday. He joined the police department in 1956 and was promoted to sergeant three years later. He attended Fairbury High School and Southern Illinois University.

An Army veteran, he is married and has one son. Liquor License Changes Sites The liquor license formerly held by the Anchor Club at 401 W. Washington was turned in to Mayor Robert McGraw Friday. The mayor, acting as city liquor commissioner, re-issued the license to the American Hungarian Family Society for its clubhouse at 1520 Calhoun. The American Hungarian society in turn surrendered its beer-only license.

James Kinsell had held the Anchor Club license since April, 1959. The rock-n-roll social club shut down in January, when its building was sold to the Daily Pantagraph and razed. Kinsell had sought to have the license transferred to 115 S. Center, but Mayor McGraw turned him down.
