1 THE PANTAGRAPH, Thursday, Oct. 10, 1985 Joseph Sarlina WASHBURN Joseph Sarlina, 73, of 402 South St. died at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday (Oct. 8, 1985) at Proctor Community Hospital, Peoria, where he had been a patient one week.

A memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Friday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Washburn, with the Rev. Daniel Behmlander officiating. Cremation rites have been accorded.

Friends will gather at the church following the service. He was born Jan. 19, 1912, at Glasmere, a son of John and Anna Holes Sarlina. He married Lydia Marcis in 1944. She died on Nov.

24, 1965. Survivors include a son, T.J. Sarlina, Warrenville; one daughter, Kathy Knock, Washburn; four sisters, Josephine Resick, North Irwin, and Anna Ursini, Margaret Daubner and Millie Yunaska, all of Tarentum, and three grandchildren. One brother and one sister preceded him in death. Mr.

Sarlina was an inventory control foreman for Otis Elevator Baker Division, Cleveland, Ohio, until his retirement. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, and a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and its men's club. Memorials may be made to Methodist Medical Center Hospice Services, Peoria.

Kiest LINCOLN Wilbur H. Kiest, 84, of Lincoln, died at 4:20 p.m. Tuesday (Oct. 8, 1985) at Los Gatos Community Hospital, Los Gatos, Calif. His funeral will be 11 a.m.

Saturday at Barry Funeral Home, the Rev. Elmer Hoefer officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Lincoln. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mr. Kiest was born Dec. 26, 1900, at Lincoln, a son of Frank and Mary Rimmerman Kiest. He married Irene R. Gehlbach July 10, 1920, at Lincoln.

She died March 15, 1980. He is survived by two grandchildren, Lesley Parks and Kevin Coady, both of California. One daughter and one sister preceded him in death. Mr. Kiest had worked for Sheer's Auto supply and for Archie Fait, both in Lincoln, and served as a relief firefighter for the Lincoln City Fire Department.

He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Lincoln. He also was past exalted ruler and life member of Lincoln Elks Lodge No. 914 and a 60-year member and past master of Lincoln Masonic Lodge No. 210 AF AM.

Memorials may be made to the church or to the American Cancer Society. Ralph R. Hess WASHINGTON Ralph R. Hess, 87, a resident of Washington Christian Village, died at 1:10 p.m. Tuesday (Oct.

8, 1985) at the village. His funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Mason White Funeral Home, Washington, the Rev. Francis W. Johnson officiating.

Burial will in Hillerest Memory Gardens, Morton. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. He was born Oct. 29, 1897, at Washington, a son of Benjamin and Sophia Hess. He married Clara J.

Guth Dec. 15, 1920, at Washington. She survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Doris Schmidt, Ventura, and four grandchildren. A son and three sisters preceded him in death.

He was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Washington. He worked at Caterpillar Tractor Co. for 14 years, retiring in 1962. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Friday at Kerrigan Funeral Home, Lincoln, where the rosary will be recited at 7:45 p.m. Friday. Mr. Pfau was born Nov. 18, 1905, in Lincoln, a son of William and Emma Bollin Pfau.

He married Marguerite Knochel June 2, 1937, at Lincoln. She survives. Other survivors include a niece, a nephew and several cousins. A sister, Irene Hickey, preceded him in death. Mr.

Pfau graduated from Lincoln Community High School and attended Lincoln College and Bradley University. For 20 years, he was employed by Cities Service Oil Co. Later, he worked in the offices of Deer Creek Coal Mine and Bennis Enterprises headquarters in Lincoln. He retired in 1971. He was a member of Holy Family Church and Lincoln Elks Lodge 914.

Eleanora M. Hayes CHENOA The funeral of Eleanora M. Hayes, 87, of 307 W. Owsley who died Tuesday (Oct. 8, 1985) in Bloomington, will be at 10:30 a.m.

Friday at St. Joseph's Church, Chenoa. The Rev. Tom Maloney will officiate. Burial will be in St.

Joseph's Cemetery, Chenoa. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Chenoa. Mrs. Hayes was born March 2, 1898, at Chenoa, a daughter of Joseph and Mary Carroll Schopp.

She married Owen Hayes in Streator. He preceded her in death. Survivors include nieces and Six brothers and three sisters preceded her in death. Mrs. Hayes, who spent most of her adult life in the Streator area, was a member of St.

"Jake" Young, 78, of 415 W. Green, Farmer City, a retired barber, died at 3:16 a.m. yesterday (Oct. 9, 1985) at St. Joseph's Hospital Medical Center, Bloomington.

His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Stensel-CalvertBelangee Funeral Home, Farmer City, the Rev. Arthur Webb officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Farmer City. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Private Masonic rites will be accorded at 7:30 tonight at the funeral home. Mr. Young was born March 14, 1907, in Berea, a son of Thomas and Eliza Kirby Young. He married Viola Belle Wolf on 1 April 15, 1937, at Mansfield. She died on July 14, 1982.

Survivors include two sons, Larry, Mansfield, and Edwin, Farmer City; four sisters, Dorothy Bell, Champaign; Celia James, Mahomet; and Rhoda Carter and Josephine Clark, both of San Francisco, and one grandson. A granddaughter, a brother and a sister preceded him in death. Mr. Young retired as a barber in March 1972. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Farmer City, the Farmer City Chamber of Commerce and the Masonic Lodge No.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mr. Stoltey was born April 17, 1914, in Champaign, a son of Walter and Jeanette Cross Stoltey. He married Jeanette Dewese on March 19, 1938, in Champaign.

She died Jan. 26, 1969. He married Mary Celeschi on March 29, 1971, in Champaign. She survives. Other survivors include a son, Terry, Monticello; a daughter, Sharon McGuire, Indianapolis; four grandchildren; and a stepgrandchild.

Mr. Stoltey worked at the University of Illinois' Physical Plant from 1948 to 1976. He was a member of the First Christian Church, Champaign; International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers 601; the Masonic Lodge of Danville; and the Danville Consistory. Earl V. Clark GREEN VALLEY Earl V.

Clark, 93, of rural Green Valley, died at 9:10 a.m. Tuesday (Oct. 8, 1985) at Bartman Nursing Home, Atlanta. His funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at St.

Luke's Lutheran Church, rural San Jose, the Rev. Michael Porter officiating. Burial will be in Allen's Grove Cemetery, next to the church. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at Maas Funeral Home, Manito, and one hour prior to the service at the church. He was born May 10, 1892, a son of Thomas and Alice Rush Clark.

He married Anna K. Peplow Jan. 25, 1911, at Pekin. She died Aug. 31, 1981.

Mr. Clark is survived by one daughter, Wanda Rauch, rural Green Valley; two sons, Willis "Pete," Manito, and Max, Ouray, 10 grandchildren; 20 greatgrandchildren; and seven greatgreat-grandchildren. One grandchild, three brothers and three sisters preceded him in death. He retired from a life of farming in 1965. Mr.

Clark was a member of the Tazewell County Farm Bureau and St. Luke's Lutheran Church and was a veteran of World War I. Memorials may be made to the church. Verne H. Shambrook ROBERTS Verne H.
