Thursa T. Klein PONTIAC The funeral of Thursa T. Klein, 91, of Dayton, Ohio, formerly of Pontiac, a retired dietary department employee, will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at HarrisMartin-Burke Funeral Home, Pontiac. The Rev.

James O. Wolfe III will officiate. Burial will be in South Side Cemetery, Pontiac. There will be no visitation. Mrs.

Klein died at 4:45 p.m. Tuesday (April 5, 1994) at Grandview Hospital, Dayton. She was born Nov. 23, 1902, in Hampton, Iowa, a daughter of William Henry and Bernadene Powley Burger. She married Earl H.

Klein in June 1922. He died Sept. 19, 1972. Survivors include three sons, Kenton Klein, Centerville, Ohio; Dean Klein, Temecula, and Gene Klein, Rockford; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and several great-greatgrandchildren. One sister and three brothers preceded her in death.

Mrs. Klein, who was educated in Iowa and Pontiac schools, was employed in the dietary departments at Evenglow Lodge and Humiston Haven, Pontiac, for many years. She was a Baptist. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. Glenn E.

Knapp FAIRBURY The funeral of Glenn E. Knapp, 66, of Fairbury, an insurance agent, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Forrest Apostolic Christian Church, Forrest. Church ministers will officiate. Burial will be in South Apostolic Christian Cemetery, Fairbury.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury, and from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday at the church. Mr. Knapp died at 3:40 a.m.

Tuesday (April 5, 1994) at Fairbury Hospital. He had been ill. He was born June 10, 1927, at Rankin, a son of Edward and Helen Stoller Knapp. He married Laura M. Knochel Nov.

11, 1956, in Kawkawlin, Mich. She survives. Other survivors include his mother, Peoria; three daughters, Kanda Steffen and Kaylene Butikofer, both of Gridley; and Kristi Knapp, Fairbury; two sons, Kirby Knapp, Fairbury, and Kennan Knapp, four sisters, Edith Stahl, Princeville; Eileen Greiner, Cissna Park; Betty Wagenbach, Toulon; and Shirley Wyss, Congerville; one brother, Larry E. Knapp, Lexington; and seven grandchildren. His father and one sister preceded him in death.

Mr. Knapp had been a life insurance agent for 31 years with Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance. He was a life member of Northwestern's Million Dollar Round Table, qualifying for the honor every year since 1973. Among other awards he received were the National Sales Achievement Award, a Marathonian and National Quality Award. In 1965, Mr.

Knapp, who was associated with the John Wright Agency, Champaign, was leading agent in the Silver Section with Northwestern. Before becoming an insurance agent, Mr. Knapp had farmed in the Cissna Park and Fairbury areas for 10 years. He attended the Forrest Apostolic Christian Church. An Army veteran of the Korean War, he was a member of Fairbury's John Joda American Legion Post 54.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Apostolic Christian Home for the Handicapped, Morton, or Fairview Haven, Fairbury. This obituary is repeated to correct the spelling of a survivor's name. Incorrect information was provided to The Pantagraph. John Kolojay STREATOR John Kolojay, 83, formerly of 609 N. Everett Streator, died at 7:45 a.m.

Wednesday (April 6, 1994) at Camelot Manor Nursing Home, Streator. His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Winterrowd-Hagi Funeral Home, Streator. Burial will be in St. Casimir's Cemetery.

Visitation will be one hour before the funeral. Mr. Kolojay was born Jan. 11, 1911, in Streator, a son of Joseph and Anna Devera Kolojay. Survivors include two brothers, Andrew, Streator, and Ed, Las Vegas, Nev.

He was preceded in death by one sister. Mr. Kolojay, a lifelong resident of Streator, retired as a laborer for that city. He was an Army veteran of World War II. Viola E.

Lowe GIBSON CITY Viola E. Lowe, 83, of Gibson City died at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday (April 6, 1994) at Heritage Manor Nursing Home, Gibson City. Funeral: arrangements are pending at Lamb Funeral Home, Gibson City. Mary Earle Rigsby FAIRBURY Mary Earle Rigsby, 90, a resident of Heritage Manor Nursing Home, El Paso, formerly of Fairbury, died at 1:10 p.m.

Wednesday (April 6, 1994) at BroMenn Regional Medical Center, Normal. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury, is handling arrangements. Lorene Bishop Rork PONTIAC Lorene Bishop Rork, 72, of Livingston Manor, Pontiac, died at 4:25 a.m. Wednesday (April 6, 1994) at Saint James Hospital, Pontiac. She had been a resident of Livingston Manor for the past year.

Her graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Mount Hope Cemetery, Sibley, the Rev. Sharon Monroe officiating. There will be no visitation. Harris-Martin-Burke Funeral Home, Pontiac, has charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Rork was born Jan. 16, 1922, in Wrigley, a daughter of Steven and Mary Alice Ellington Bishop. She married Raymond Rork in February 1943, in Indianapolis. He died in 1993.

Survivors include three daughters, Janet K. Lewis, Pontiac; Debbie Courtland, Saunemin; and Phyllis Rork, Champaign; one sister, Pauline Cullip, Gibson City; one brother, Charles Bishop, Columbia, S.C.; two grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. Three brothers and three sisters preceded her in death. Mrs. Bishop, who was educated in Kentucky schools, was a homemaker.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. Marie M. Rubenking LINCOLN Marie M. Rubenking, 86, of Lincoln died at 2:16 a.m. Wednesday (April 6, 1994) at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital, Lincoln.

Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Lincoln, the Rev. Don Beckman officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Lincoln. Visitation will be for one hour before the service Saturday at the church.

Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home, Lincoln, has charge of arrangements. Mrs. Rubenking was born June 26, 1907, in Lincoln, a daughter of Jacob and Marie Morscheck Schneider. She married Frank P. Rubenking Oct.

20, 1934, in Lincoln. He died Jan. 7, 1983. Surviving is one sister, Louise Keckler, Springfield. She was preceded in death by two sisters.

Mrs. Rubenking was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Lincoln, and American Legion Post 263 Auxiliary, Lincoln. Freida Schafer ROANOKE Frieda Schafer, 91, a resident of the Apostolic Christian Home, Roanoke, died at 11 a.m. Wednesday (April 6, 1994) at the home. Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m.

Saturday at the Apostolic Christian Church, Roanoke, church ministers officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Remmert Funeral Home, Roanoke, and an hour before the the service at the church. Mrs.

Schafer was born April 23, 1902, in Roanoke, a daughter of William and Lina Schlupp Schafer. Survivors include a sister, Emma Frank, Morton. Six brothers and five sisters preceded her in death. She was a member of Apostolic Christian Church in Roanoke and a homemaker. Memorials may be made to Apostolic Christian Home in Roanoke.

Emily Romersberger Schertz CARLOCK Emily Romersberger Schertz, 44, of R.R. 1, Carlock, a teacher, died at 5:28 a.m. Wednesday (April 6, 1994) at the McLean County Nursing Home, Normal, where she had been a resident three weeks. She married Ronald Schertz in April 1970 in Eureka. Survivors include one son, Jeff, Carlock; her father, Carlock; and four sisters, Leslie Thomas, Normal; Sara Romersberger, Poultney, Margaret Chipman, Yampa, and Amy Wuethrich, Westchester. Her mother preceded her in death. Mrs. Schertz was a graduate of University High School, Normal, and was a 1972 graduate of the University of Illinois, ChampaignUrbana.

She had taught in Arizona and was a substitute teacher in Congerville-Eureka-Goodfield Unit District 140 and in Bloomington District 87 schools. Memorials may be made to McLean County Nursing Home. Cornelia Schumacher LaROSE The funeral of Cornelia M. Schumacher, 75, of LaRose, will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church, LaRose.

The Rev. Steven Voigt will officiate. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, LaRose. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at Aimone-Froelich Funeral Home, Toluca, and one hour before services Friday at the church. Mrs.

Schumacher died at 9:35 a.m. Tuesday (April 5, 1994) at Heartland Health Care Center, Henry. She was born July 31, 1918, in Bartonville, a daughter of Egge and Ella DeWearth Harms. She married Harold F. Schumacher June 29, 1940, in Toluca.

He died April 2, 1991. Surviving are one son, Edward, Toluca; two daughters, Bernita Turini, LaRose, and Cynthia Bernardi, Toluca; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. One daughter and one brother preceded her in death. Mrs. Schumacher was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, LaRose, and its Ladies Aid Society, She was employed by Toluca Garment Co.

Bloomington-Normal Ella Mabel Chambers The funeral of Ella Mabel Chambers, 96, a resident of McLean County Nursing Home, Normal, formerly of 607 E. Tuesday (April 5, 1994) at the nursing home. She was born July 3, 1897, in McLean County, a daughter of Robert T. and Anna Johnson Bier. She married Roy Lee Chambers June 10, 1924, at Barnes. He died Dec.

17, 1972. Survivors include two daughters, Catherine N. Anderson, 100 S. Blair Drive, Normal; and Gladys M. Shepard, Phoenix Towers, Bloomington; two sons, Edwin Battle Creek, and Roy L.

Wyoming, two sisters, Edna Bradford, Downs; and Lula Moulton, Heritage Manor Nursing Home, Bloomington; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and 22 great-great-grandchildren. Two sons, one brother, one sister and four grandchildren preceded her in death. Mrs. Chambers was a member of First Church of God, Bloomington. Mary E. Cloyd Betty Jane Cox PONTIAC The funeral of Betty Jane Cox, 70, of 21 Crystal Court, Pontiac, a former U.S. Navy employee, will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Harris-Martin-Burke Fu-' neral Home, Pontiac. The Rev.

Gretchen Stinebaugh will officiate. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Arcola City Cemetery, Arcola. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Cox died at 9 a.m. Tuesday (April 5, 1994) at Saint James Hospital, Pontiac. She had been ill six months. She was born Oct.

5, 1923, at Lake Forest, a daughter of Frank L. and Mildred Hope Duncan. She married Robert M. Cox May 14, 1949, at Pontiac. He died Oct.

4, 1970. Survivors include one sister, Barbara Gallup, Pontiac; and one brother, Ted Duncan, Pontiac. Mrs. Cox was educated in Waukegan and Pontiac grade schools. She graduated in 1941 from Pontiac Township High School and while in high school was a charter member and the youngest member of the Amitytown Society of Painters.

She attended Illinois Wesleyan School of Nursing and San Diego State College. Mrs. Cox was employed by the Navy at Great Lakes Naval Training Station from 1942 to 1949. She also was employed in the accounting department of The Johnson Press Pontiac, for several years. She was a member of Grace Episcopal Church, Pontiac; Order of the Eastern Star; White Shrine of Jerusalem; Daughters of the Nile; and Order of the Amaranth.

Memorials may be made to the Saint James Hospital Hospice Program. William Ray Harmon LINCOLN William Ray Harmon, 66, of Lincoln, died at 4:55 p.m. Wednesday (April 6, 1994) at his home. Kerrigan Funeral Home, Lincoln, is in charge of arrangements. Mary C.

Jackson FAIRBURY The funeral of Mary C. Jackson, 80, of Fairbury will be at 1 p.m. Friday at DuffyPils Memorial Home, Fairbury. The Rev. Scott Archer will officiate.

Burial will be in St. John's Catholic Cemetery, rural Fairbury. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the memorial home. She died at 6:10 a.m.

Saturday (April 2, 1994) at Verdugo Hills Hospital, Glendale, Calif. Mrs. Jackson was born Oct. 14, 1913, in Paxton, a daughter of Otis and Myrtle Trouesdell Dover. She married Bob Thompson Feb.

7, 1928. He preceded her in death. She married George Jackson July 1951. He also preceded her in death. Survivors include three daughters, Judy Ebert, LaCrescenta, Norma Mehrkens, Fairbury; and Joann Beck, Midland, three sons, David Thompson, Martinez, Harold Jackson, Fairbury; and Steven Jackson, Bloomington; two sisters, Janet Gloyd, Colfax, and Maxine Hale, Bloomington; one brother, Nelson Dover, New Bern, N.C.; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

One son, one infant sister, one brother, one granddaughter and one great-grandson preceded her in death. Mrs. Jackson was a member of Gibson City Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and a former member of Charity Home Rebekah Lodge 112 of Fairbury. ACTIVITIES Author at library "Corposes in the Cloisters" is the title of a free presentation by mystery writer Kate Charles who will give the program at 7 p.m.

tonight in the community room of the Normal Public Library. The author of "A Drink of Deadly Wine" and "The Snares of Death," Charles is the pen name of Carol Fosher Chase, a graduate of Bloomington High School and Illinois State University and a former employee of the Normal library. Currently residing in England, she will give a light-hearted talk about mysteries and discuss her own work, including a brief reading. She'll also answer audience questions. Following the program, she'll autograph copies of her books and paperback copies of "A Drink of Deadly Wine" will be on sale.

The funeral Mary E. Cloyd, 68, of 2616 Hall Court, Bloomington, a retired secretary, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church, Normal. The Rev. James Bortell will officiate.

Burial will be in East Lawn Memorial Gardens, Bloomington. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Mary E. Mary E. Bloomington.

Cloyd Mrs. Cloyd died at 7 a.m. Tuesday (April 5, 1994) at St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington. She was born July 18, 1925, at Bentown, a daughter of Leo T.

and Alda Arrowsmith Bedell. She married James A. Cushing Sept. 5, 1949, in Bloomington. He died June 24, 1966.

She married James C. Cloyd Oct. 4, 1968, in Normal. He survives. Other survivors include her mother, Normal; three sons, James A.

Cushing II and Robert E. Cushing, both of Bloomington; and Thomas D. Cushing, Columbus, Ohio; one stepdaughter, Jane E. Cloyd, Polk City, two stepsons, James S. Cloyd, Kettering, Ohio, and Richard A.

Cloyd, Altamonte Springs, one sister, Betty Hathaway, Phoenix, two brothers, Roy E. Bedell, Ellsworth, and Gerald Bedell, Arrowsmith; five grandchildren; and three stepgrandchildren. Her father preceded her in death. Mrs. Cloyd, a graduate of Ellsworth High School, had been a secretary for 23 years at State Farm Insurance Cos.

She retired in 1981. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and was church wedding coordinator. She was a volunteer for the St. Joseph Medical Center Auxiliary and was a member of the Highland Park Ladies 9-Hole Golf Association. Mrs.

Cloyd, who had lived in Texas from 1951 to 1966, was an avid gardener and bridge player. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church Building Fund, Normal. Danahay, 83, of R.R. 4, Bloomington, died at 12:50 p.m. Wednesday (April 6, 1994) at her home. Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington, is handling arrangements. Helen Prothero Downs Helen Prothero Downs, 84, of 3720 W.

Ninth Friendship Village, Waterloo, Iowa, a Bloomington native, died Tuesday (April 5, 1994) at Allen Memorial Hospital, Waterloo, a long illness. funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at Kearns, HuismanSchumacher Funeral Home, 3146 Kimball Waterloo. Burial will be in Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery, Waterloo. Visitation will be from 9 a.m.

to 2 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mrs. Downs was born April 28, 1909, in Bloomington, a daughter of Ruben B. and Ora Stillman Prothero.

She married Warren A. Downs Dec. 25, 1936, in Bloomington. He died July 3, 1986. Survivors include one daughter, Marcia Downs, Shawnee Mission, one son, Roger Waterloo, Iowa; one sister, Henrietta Evans, Rantoul; and two grandchildren.

One sister and one brother preceded her in death. Mrs. Downs, whose father was a paving contractor, lived at 1018 E. Front St. in Bloomington.

She graduated from Illinois Wesleyan University in 1931 where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma social sorority. Before her marriage she was a teacher and a clerk for State Farm Mutual Fire Insurance Co. She was past president of Chapter IX PEO, Waterloo; past presi dent of TTT; and member of the Waterloo Women's Club. Memorials may be made to the Arthritis Foundation. LeRoy A.

Fretty LeRoy A. Fretty, 85, of 1409 Clinton Bloomington, died at 11:30 p.m. Tuesday (April 5, 1994) at St. Joseph Medical Center following a lengthy illness. His funeral will be at 1 p.m.

Friday at Metzler-Froelich Memorial Home, the Rev. Randy A. Williams officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the memorial home.

A graveside committal service will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the Pontoppidan Lutheran Church Cemetery, Elliott, the Rev. Ruth Hanson officiating. Mr. Fretty was born March 15, 1909, in rural Paxton, the son of Rasmus and Helen Anderson Fretty.

He married Claribel Miller Sept. 2, 1922, in Bloomington. She survives. Also surviving are two sisters, Florence Hileman, Paxton, and Darleen Bartelson, McHenry. Three brothers and three sisters preceded him in death.

He was a member of the Pontoppidan Lutheran Church at Elliott and was a graduate of Brown's Business College, Bloomington. He had been employed by Williams Oil-0-Matic Company, now the Eureka Company, and later was selfemployed as an accountant in Bloomington-Normal. Memorials may be made to Centennial Christian Church, Bloomington, the Pontoppidan Lutheran Church, Elliott, or a charity of the donor's choice. Francis 'Lee' Hoog The funeral of Francis Victor "Lee" Hoog, 83, of Richmond, formerly of E. Washington Bloomington, and a resident of the Bloomington area for 77 years, will be at 2 p.m.

Saturday at Metzler-Froelich Memorial Home, Bloomington. The Rev. Kenneth L. Barth will officiate. Burial will be in Hudson Cemetery, Hudson.

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the memorial home. Mr. Hoog died at 3:15 p.m. Tuesday (April 5, 1994) at his home.

He was born Feb. 12, 1911, in Bloomington, a son of John and Helen Watchinski Hoog. He married Viola Roberts April 14, 1941, in St. Charles, Mo. She survives in Richmond.

Also surviving are one son, Jerry, Richmond, one daughter, Betty Shade, Reading, four brothers, Lawrence, John, Bill and Carl, all of Bloomington; four sisters, Madelyn Baker, Bloomington; Rachael Morton, Newport, Bernadine Jones, Tacoma, and Carol Crow, Normal; four grandchildren; and five greatgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by one sister. Mr. Hoog was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Normal. He was a member of the International Association of Machinists Local 1000 and had worked at Eureka Williams for 35 years.

Memorials may be made to Reid Hospital and Health Care Services for Hospice Care, 1401 Chester Richmond, Ind. 47374. Terrance Rider The funeral of Terrance C. "T.C." Rider, 51, of 8 Second Greenwood Mobile Homes, Bloomington, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at MetzlerFroelich Memorial Home, Bloomington.

The Rev. Stephen A. Willard will officiate. Burial will be at Park Hill Cemetery, Bloomington, with military graveside rites by VietNow. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m.

today at the memorial home. Mr. Rider died at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday (April 5, 1994) at his home. Death was attributed to natural causes.

He was born Sept. 4, 1942, i in Bloomington, the son of Clayton S. and Seraphia Schopp Rider. He married Mary Sleevar Sept. 13, 1985, in Bloomington.

Terrance She survives. Rider Terrance Rider Also surviving are three sons, Tony, Robert and James Rider, all of Bloomington; one daughter, Natalie Rider, Bloomington; one stepson, Darrell Sleevar, at home; two brothers, Ronald Downs, and Jerry Normal; one sister, Sharon Campbell, Chatham; and two grandsons. His father and one brother preceded him in death. He was a 1960 graduate of Bloomington High School. A U.S.

Marine Corps veteran from 1969 to 1975, he served in Vietnam for three years. He was awarded a variety of service medals including a Presidential Unit Citation and a Purple Heart. He had been employed at the Archer Daniels Midland plant, and later for Admiral Corp. Mr. Rider had been employed for 18 years by General Electric in Bloomington and most recently worked as a security guard for Firestone in Bloomington.

He was an active volunteer with the American Legion baseball program at O'Neal Park in Bloomington as a game announcer and with field and equipment preparation. He was an avid fisherman. Memorials may be made to the "T.C." Rider Memorial Fund..
