9 BITUARIES Sauk Valley SaukValley.com ay 5,2021 ALENE F. HINRICHS Born: December 20, 1916 Died: May 3, 2021 STERLING Alene F. Hinrichs, 104, died Monday, May 3, 2021, at Citadel of Sterling. Alene was born December 20, 1916, in Fulton, the daughter of Richard and Katie (Wiersema) Sterenberg. She married Lawrence G.

Hinrichs on November 3, 1941, in Sterling. He preceded her in death on January 12, 1997. Alene was a member of Bethel Reformed Church; she was in various church groups, including Seekers Bible Study, and was also the last charter member at church. She loved crocheting and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also loved traveling with her husband, Lawrence.

Well done, good and faithful servant. Survivors include her daughter, Lynn (Ken) Kaufman of Sterling; one son, Keith Hinrichs of Freeport; three grandchildren Mark Kaufman, Michelle O'Neal, and Amanda Mack; seven great-grandchildren, Erica Kaufman, Kalee O'Neal, Mia O'Neal, Janae O'Neal, Bree O'Neal, Alexander Mack, and Christopher Mack. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence; three sisters; four brothers; one grandson, Robert Hinrichs; and one great-granddaughter, Kiana O'Neil. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 7, 2021, at Bethel Reformed Church, with Pastor Grant Mulder officiating.

Burial will be at Oak Knoll Memorial Park in Sterling. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Bethel Reformed Church in Sterling. A memorial has been established to Rock River Hospice and Home and Bethel Reformed Church in Sterling. Memorials may also be sent to Schilling Funeral Home, PO Box 592, Sterling, IL 61081, and will be forwarded to the family.

WILLSTEAD Born: March 16, 1955 Died: May 3, 2021 ROCK FALLS Debra Sue Will- stead, 66, of Rock Falls, died Monday, May 3, 2021, at CGH Medical Center in Sterling. Deb was born March 16, 1955 in Dixon, the daughter of Hugh and Norma (Heather) Voorhies Jr.

She was a member of the Sterling Moose. Deb loved playing bingo and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a loving mother of two daughters, Heather Feary of Rockford and Elizabeth Verhulst of Sterling; one son, Daniel Willstead of Rock Falls; her significant other, Keith Stern of Rock Falls; two brothers, Ronald Voorhies of Daven- port, IA and Dennis Voorhies of Dixon; two sisters, Pamela (Thomas) Shedosky of Columbus, WI and Tamera (Ronald) Ackert of Walton; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents. Private graveside services will be held at Oakwood Cemetery at a later date.

DOROTHY L. NOBLE Born: November 19, 1930 Died: May 2, 2021 AMBOY Dorothy Louise Noble, 90, of Amboy, died peacefully May 2, 2021. Dorothy was born November 19, 1930 to Elbert E. Smith and Thelma V. (Dewey) Smith.

She married Keith R. Noble on May 29, 1950. They had three children, Catherine (Steven) Klein, Keith (Cindy) Noble, and Janelle (George Martin) Noble; four grandchildren, Anne Dickison, Grant Noble, Gregory Martin, and Chris Martin; and three great-grandchil- dren, Sophia Noble, Beckett Dickison, and Eve Dickison. She was preceded in death by her husband and son. Dorothy and Keith owned and operated Amboy Radio TV for 41 years.

In addition to running the family business, Dorothy was an avid baker, talented seamstress, and craftswoman. Dorothy was active in the community as a Girl Scout troop leader, a member of the Rebekahs, and a 25-year volunteer with the AARP Founda- tion tax aide program. Each spring, she and Keith delivered innumerable dozens of roses for the Amboy Lions Club rose day. Dorothy was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Amboy. She enjoyed travel, especially visiting children and grandchildren in California.

Family graveside service will be held at Prairie Repose Cemetery in Amboy. Arrangements are by the Mihm-Jones Funeral Home. Online condolences can be left at www. thejonesfh.com. HELEN E.

RODGERS Died: May 3, 2021 DIXON Helen Elizabeth Rodgers, 100, of Dixon, passed away Monday, May 3, 2021, at her home in Dixon. Arrangements are being completed by Preston-Schilling Funeral Home in Dixon. LORI L. SIMPSON Died: May 3, 2021 STERLING Lori L. Simpson, 55, of Sterling, died Monday, May 3, 2021 at CGH Medical Center in Sterling.

Arrangements are pending at the McDonald Funeral Homes. MARILYN J. GENZ Born: September 24, 1928 Died: May 3, 2021 ROCK FALLS Marilyn J. Genz, 92, died Monday, May 3, 2021, at Regency Care of Sterling. Marilyn was born on September 24, 1928 in Rock Falls, the daughter of Homer M.

and Gladys E. (Sanders) Olds. She attended school in New Bedford, and was a 1946 graduate of Rock Falls High School. After graduating, she had worked at Frantz and the Scotts Dime Store in Sterling, and then as a supervisor for Illinois Bell for 14 years. She married John Martens on January 20, 1951; he died August 3, 1955.

She later married Glen E. Genz on February 27, 1960; he died June 6, 2010. Marilyn was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church, the Whiteside County Genealogy Society, and T.O.P.S. Survivors include her son, Stephen (Shirley) Genz of Rock Falls; her daughter- in-law, Donna Genz of Muscatine, IA; four grandchildren, Andrew (Theresa) Genz, Laura Genz, Whitni (Jeremy) Bye and Jenna Genz (Josh Rice); and her great-grandchild, Corbin Bye.

She was preceded in death by her infant son, John Martenson Jr. in 1958; her son, Michael Genz; her brothers, James and Harold Olds; her sister, Lola Weinger; and her niece, Mary Adams. Graveside services will be Friday, May 7, 2021 at 11:30 a.m. at Pine Grove Cemetery in rural Dixon, with the Reverend Richard R. Kramer officiating.

There will be no visitation. Arrangements by McDonald Funeral Homes. Memorials may be made to the Rock Falls High School Softball Team. TIMOTHY J. BRIEN Born: November 22, 1979 Died: May 3, 2021 ROCK FALLS Timothy J.

Brien, 41, of Rock Falls, died Monday, May 3, 2021, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa. Tim was born November 22, 1979, in Sterling, the son of Fernand Jr. and Lois Annette (Joslin) Brien. He was employed at Wahl Clipper. Tim loved listening to rock music and watching comedies and sports of any type.

He was also a history buff. He is survived by his parents of Sterling; three children, Haley Carrell of Sterling, Austin Brien of Rock Falls and Treven Brien of Rock Falls; three sisters, Betsy Walker of Rock Falls, Jennifer Walker of Freeport and Gina (Izzy) Medina of Sterling; four nieces; six nephews; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Ray and Jean Joslin; and his paternal grandparents, Fernand Sr. and Patricia Brien. Visitation, for a maximum of 50 people at a time, will be Friday, May 7, 2021, from 5 to 7 p.m.

at the McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls. A private funeral will be held the next day, with burial at Oak Knoll Memorial Park in Sterling. A memorial has been established.
