Henderson Sponsors Program at Belfiesda Church Mrs. Cornelius Young, mistress of ceremonies, introduced Mrs. Robert Ashby of Burlington, Iowa, soloist, when members of Phyllis Wheatley Club sponsored their annual program Sunday at Bethesda Baptist Church. Bartlett Wilkerson, Chicago, was the accompanist. Mrs. H. L. Jernigan offered the invocation and scripture reading was by Mrs. Rollie Earley. Mrs. Russell Matthews, club president, gave the welcome. Mrs. Eva Solomon who organ ized the club and is now designated as club mother, was presented a corsage by Miss Anner May Young, who also presented corsages to the soloist and to Mrs. Matthews. Following the offertory by Mrs. Oolduef Ogden and Mrs. Henry Brannon, talks were given by Rev. Robert Morgan, Mrs. Ray Crummer, program chairman, and Mrs. Jesse Moss, social chairman. Mrs. Alice Foy, Moline, past state president, and Mrs. Daisy Brooks, Monmouth, district president, were introduced. Mrs. Solomon was given serving honors at the tea table centered with yellow and purple chrysanthemums noting the club colors. Groups Hold Social Events NORTH HENDERSON - Mrs. William Fox and infant son Michael were recent guests of honor at their home. In games, favors went to Mrs. S. W. Timberlake, Mrs. Wayne McDowell, Mrs. Richard McCaw, Mrs. Gunnard Lundeen, Mrs. William Fox and Mrs. Leone Anderson. Refreshments were served from a decorated table of blue and white. Michael received many gifts. Hostesses were Mrs. Carl Bruns of Alexis, Mrs. Bill Stull, Mrs. Francis Stull of Monmouth and Mrs. Mary Stull and Mrs. Robert Fox of North Henderson. Ever Busy Club Mrs. Fern Williams was host to the Ever Busy Club the past week at her home. Mrs. Sewell Dillbeck assisted her mother in serving lunch. Afternoon was spent sewing rug rags. Mrs. Lawrence Peterson was remembered for birthday and received a gift. Mrs. William Fox received a gift for her new son Michael Loren. Luther League of the Zion Lutheran Church Oct. 6 went to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Olson and daughters Mary , and Frances, where a wiener roast was featured.
