THE PANTAGRAPH, Tuesday, Feb. 18, 1986 DEAR ABBY MILESTONES Rekindled affair sparks trouble in two marriages By ABIGAIL VAN BUREN Dear Abby: I am a 30-year-old divorcee. I married Larry (not his real name) when I was 16 and left him (like a fool) for another man when I was 18. I never realized what a jewel Larry was until it was too late. Larry got married and now he has three children.

In the meantime, I've been living with this other guy, "Barney," for six years. We have a child but we're not married yet. We plan to make it legal in the near future. I have always regretted leaving Larry and have prayed for a reconciliation, but after all these years I never thought I had a chance. Well, I ran into him two weeks ago in a parking lot, and it was like our very first meeting all over again! We have seen each other a couple of times since and now he wants to leave his wife and marry me.

Should I leave Barney and go back to Larry? Let me know soon. Barney and I are booked on a cruise, and we'll lose our deposit if we don't cancel by March 10. Thank you. LIBBY (NOT MY REAL NAME) Dear Libby: Slow down. If Larry isn't thinking about his family obligations, he should be.

You also have a child to consider as well as a six-year relationship. Don't do anything without considering the consequences very, very carefully. Go on the cruise you've planned with Barney and try to get your head straight before you go off the deep end. Dear Abby: I have seen many letters in your column complaining NEW NAMES A Hudson couple, Mark and Phyllis Carnahan, are parents of their first child, Nicole Danielle Carnahan, born Feb. 2.

The 8-pound, 5 ounce baby is a granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Keene of Palos Hills, Janice Steele of Livingston, and Earlene Carnahan of Hudson. David Morgan Shaffer is the name chosen for the baby born Jan. 30 to Ken and Chris Shaffer of Blytheville, Ark.

Darlene and Rey Folkerts of 8 Donna Drive, Normal, are among grandparents of the 7-pound, 15-ounce baby, who is named for his paternal grandfather and middle-named for a maternal greatgrandfather. Don and Linda Hance of Tuscola and Dave and Sandy Shaffer of Gastonia, N.C., are other grandparents. Morgan and Catherine Phipps of Mattoon, Frances and Floyd Dorris of Marion, and Ed and Carol Bruce of Washington are great-grandparents. Randy and Lori Weber of Fairbury are parents of their first child, Tess Marie Weber, born Feb. 3.

The 9-pound, 7-ounce baby shares the middle name of her maternal grandmother and an aunt. She is a granddaughter of Denny and Jane Righter of Forrest, Gloria Weber of Fairbury and William Weber of St. Petersburg, Fla. Great grandparents are Mr. and Mrs.

Your stock answer: "See an ear-nose doctor for a possible minor surgical solution." I have a better idea. My husband was the champion snorer of them all.

Then one day we figured out his. snoring might be caused by breathing through his mouth, so we bought some paper "tape" 1 inch wide, and he began taping his mouth closed every night before going to sleep. He would say, "No more talking, I am going to tape up now." Then he would press his lips together and tape them shut. After sleeping quietly all night long, he would peel off the tape in the morning. (It peels off easily.) This worked for 20 years.

I have told others. Some say this will stop their breathing. Not so. MRS. L.P.

IN L.A. Dear Mrs. L.P.: It sounds too good to be true, but I wouldn't recommend it for others without suggesting that they run it by their doctor to make sure it's safe for them. Another suggestion: Buy one of those machines that drones on endlessly to drown out street noises, snoring and other disturbing sounds that interfere with sleeping. They are available at sleep shops, hardware stores and listed in most gadget catalogs.

If you try either of these suggestions, please let me know if it works for you. Pleasant dreams. Dear Abby: You asked "Forgotten Parents," who had never seen a dime of the $10,000 their son had borrowed from them 10 years ago, if they had a promissory note. This reminded me years ago, we foolishly loaned $5,000 to a relative without any kind of IOU or promissory note. Instead of asking for one after he had the money, my wife wrote to him asking when we could expect a partial payment on the $7,500 he owed us.

Quick as a flash we received a letter from him advising us that he did not owe us $7,500 it was only Mission accomplished. We got it in writing. SHREWD IN EL CENTRO, CALIF. The Bridal Corner by Beverly Hodge Hodge's would like to thank Connie Wilson and Eastland Mall for our participation in their "New Beginnings" Bridal Show. Public response was excellent and we hope you do this again, Connie! An interesting bridal note: Some ancient cultures actually tried to make brides less attractive, so other men would not be drawn to them. Hair was cut severely, eyebrows were shaved off, faces were even tatooed.

Truly a less than appealing prospect. Brides, aren't you glad that we don't do that today? HODGE'S BRIDAL WORLD "Creators of Memorable Weddings" 305 Pine St. Normal 452-5510 Thurs. 11-8 Sat. 10-5 50th anniversary for Francis Daltons Mr.
