Bloomington-Normal Deaths Helen Ramsey Helen B. Ramsey, 1604 26th Rock Island, a former society editor of The Daily Pantagraph, died at 5:47 a.m, Thursday at Moline Public Hospital. Mrs. Ramsey fractured her leg in a fall Dec. 15 at Rock Island County Health Care Center and was in traction at the Moline hospital when she died.

She was society editor at the Pantagraph in 1923. Mrs. Ramsey be her newpaper career as a reporter. or the Bloomington Bulletin. Other newspapers she worked for included the Denver Post; the Long Beach (California) Press; the Illinois State Register, Springfield; The Argus, Rock Island; and the Davenport (now Quad-City) Times, Iowa.

Mrs. Ramsey also was employed by the Rock Island Public Library for 12 years, six of them as head of a branch library. She was a native of Bloomington, a daughter of Nicholas W. and Adelaide Brandicon. She received her education in Bloomington schools and was a graduate of Illinois Wesleyan University, the college of music and speech.

She married Julian Ramsey Jan. 31, 1926, in Waukegan. Mrs. Ramsey was a writer of juvenile stories, patriotic and historical articles, plays and poems which appeared in national magazines. Her one-act play, "In the Name of Miles was included in an anthology of "Fifty Plays for Holidays," edited by Sylvia Kamerman.

A memorial service was conducted Saturday at Hodgson Funeral Home, Rock Island. The body was cremated. Surviving are her husband; a son, Stewart Washington, D.C.; a daughter, Carolyn O'Gara, Bala-Cynwyd, and two grandchildren. Three sisters preceded her in death. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Rock Island; Rock Island YWCA and Woman's Club.

Raphael Freehill Raphael A. Freehill, 75, of 1504 E. Oakland Ave. died at 9:30 a.m. Monday at his home.

He had been under a doctor's care. Mr. Freehill was an administrator and teacher in District 87 schools for 37 years, retiring 10 years ago. He was a graduate of Illinois State University and received his master's degree from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana. His funeral will be at 9:30 a.m.

Thursday at Main Memorial Home and at 10 a.m. at Holy Trinity Church. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m.

Wednesday at the funeral home, with a prayer service at 8 p.m. Mr. Freehill was born Dec. 10, 1904, in Strawn, a son of Michael and Mary Egan Freehill. He married Margaret Zerbe June 23, 1934, in Urbana.

She survives. Also surviving are three sons, John, Appleton, David, Springfield; and James, at home; two sisters, Marie Freehill, Clyde, and Marguerite Kraft, 1210 Fell and six grandchildren. A son, a daughter, six brothers and three sisters preceded him in death. He was a member of Holy Trinity Church, the Altar and Rosary Society; a third- and fourth-degree Knight of Columbus; a member of the Illinois Education Association, the National Education Association and the Retired Teachers Association. Murray, 57, Key Biscayne, a Bloomington native, who died Sunday at his home, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Gladfelter Funeral Chapel, Ottawa. Burial will be in Oakwood Memorial Park, Ottawa. Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Murray was a producer of more than 50 children's films. He was born Jan. 8, 1922, in Bloomington, a son of Frederick and Marie L. Butler Murray.

He married Irene M. VanDeWarker. She survives. Also surviving are his mother, 701 W. Wood and a sister, Jo Ann Stevens, 701 W.

Wood St. His father preceded him in death. He was a member of the Catholic Church, the Moose Lodge of Miami a and the fourth-degree Knights of Columbus.
