Deaths and funerals Lanson Banks BATTERSEA Lanson Banks, 70, of Battersea, who died recently at his residence following a brief illness, was buried at Sandhill Cemetery. -He was born at Killerville, a hamlet on the outskirts of this village, a son of the late John Banks and his wife, Lana Ellen, who survives, and had spent his lifetime in the immediate area. A carpenter and general contractor, he retired seven years ago.

He leaves his second wife, the former Violet five sons, Eldon Banks, Kingston; Elwood, Montreal; Dale, Battersea; Earl, Nanaimo, B.C., and Jim Banks, at home, and four daughters, Mrs. Shirley Watson, Odessa; Mrs. Sylvia Foxton, Sydernham; Mrs. Elaine Dickson, Kingston; Linda Banks, at home, and his mother, Mrs. Lana Ellen Banks of Lyndhurst.

-Additional survivors are six. brothers, Vince Banks, Ottawa; Kenneth, England; Henry, Toronto; Franz, Lyndhurst; Edward, Napanee; Albert Kingston; and two sisters, Mrs. Viola Kincaid, Kingston; and Mrs. Zeta Cawley of -New York, besides several grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife, the former Flossie Williams; a son, Edwin Banks; a grandson, Michael Watson, and several brothers and sisters.

Pallbearers were William Lake, John Clark, Gordon Stoness, Reuben Bennett, Bob Patton and John Freeman. Jekabs Stradnieks Jekabs Stradnieks, 69, of 31 Hamilton who died recently at Hotel Dieu Hospital following a short illness, was buried at Cataraqui Cemetery. He was born at. Upesgriwas, Latvia, but had been a Kingston resident for 26 years. A former carpenter, he retired four years ago.

He leaves a friend, Birthe Johansen. Captain Robert Cole of the Salvation Army Citadel officiated at a funeral service. Emma McCullagh Kingston nonagenarian Emma (Lora) McCullagh, 95, who died recently at Rideaucrest Home for the Aged following an illness of several months, was buried at Thompsonhill Cemetery in Renfrew. She was born at Killaloe, a daughter of the late William Becker and his wife, the former Wilhelmina Zumach, but had been a Kingston resident for approximately 10 years. Previously, she lived in Renfrew and Ottawa. Mrs.

McCullagh attended the Baptist Church and as a younger woman sang in choirs at both Renfrew and Killaloe. She leaves a daughter, Mrs. Stewart (Gertrude) Duff, Kingston; three grandchildren, Mrs. Barry (Linda) Sample, London; Richard Duff and Allan Duff, both of Kingston, and a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Harold (Muriel) Lora, North Bay, Additional survivors are a sister, Helen Becker, Grand Rapids, a brother, Fred Becker, Gull Lake, and six great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by two husbands, Herman Lora and Thomas McCullagh; a son, Harold Lora, and seven brothers and sisters. Ella May Emmons DESERONTO Ella May Nellie Emmons, 88, who died recently at the Quinte Beach Nursing Home following a lengthy illness, was buried at Yarker Cemetery. She was born in Portland Township, a daughter of the late Thomas Mills and his wife, the former Willa Wood, but had been a Kingston and Yarker resident for some years. Mrs. Emmons attended Enterprise Free Methodist Church.
