Now there's the gent who loves his cig Above both candy, fruit or fig, Nor does he care about expense, For smoke and puffs release of tense. And there's the boy who loves sports, games, Who wonders and admires all fames, Who holds topmost the fun in sport. No habits his of other sort. And then the gent behind the wheel Who only then at tops does feel That life is worth the full extent To those who are on pleasure bent. And there's the gent who holds in speech The tops in happiness to reach, Is never satisfied unless His talk is worthwhile for the press. And there's the l&dy with desire To dress so others will admire How sweet and perfect are her looks Like tops in pictured fashion books. And then the lady who can cook, Like finest and the best in book, Has aims and pleasure day by day For cooking honors every way. And too the gent who makes of dough, No not the kind in bread you know, He has a way of consequence, He makes of dollars, not just cents. And what a habit is this one, To wear of smile and have of tone, In voice, expression and to please All listeners, yes, that's Chris Reese. And now I'm bragging, you will hold, And really feel I should be told, That all my scribbling's mostly bunk and should be piled with other junk. —0— 11 has been suggested to me that I line up two other good Danes and so have a trio that could really warble "Gladelig Jul" (that's the Dane for "Merry Christmas") and so I spoke to Roy Christensen and Mads Christiansen about joining me arid we could line up a peachy Dane trio to warbl* Merry Christmas in Dane words and melody. And I do know that with the voice and harmony of we three Danes it would be good and maybe I could arrange to put on a concert in the main drag intersection on Christmas eve and I am sure that Algona and vicinity folks would enjoy the concert and get a kick out of it, so to speak. —o—• Yep, the season for new number plates on your car has arrived and so it is that the other day I dug up and had the new plates attached to my Buick and they look nice, I like the dark color. And the number is 1321 and that comes in handy, too, because on account of that's my telephone number and now 1 don't have to dig up a telephone book to make sure just what 1 should call when I want to ask my boss if dinner is ready, so to speak. And it would be nice if all car owners could get their phone number for their license plate number because on account of it would save all of us a lot of time number hunting in the phone book, so to speak. It was the other day that (Bud) Robinson told me that besides being a good fiddler and good mouthharpist I was also a good numismatist and I didn't know whether or not I should get mad at him. So 1 looked up the dictionary and there I found a numismatist to be a collector of coins and which I do weekly (thai is I change the check into coins), so to speak. But that numismatist word is a good one and should fit all of us because on account of we do that right along, even though the coins are issued in the form of a check. It was recently thai a big business concern in New York suggested we take up the thirteen month year and I don't know but what it would be a good idea at that. According to the scheme there would be 13 months of 28 days, each containing four weeks, each week beginning on Sunday and ending on Saturday. Every month would be like every other month, and days would fall on identical dates. That is, the first of every month would always be on a Sunday, the second on Monday, etc. etc. The thirteenth month would come between June and July and would be like all the other months.' The last day in every year would be dated December 29th, and since it is an extra day would be called Year Day and would not have any week day name like Monday or Tuesday. Now there's an idea because on account of you can see how easy it would be to remember days along with their month date number, so to speak. I am in favor of giving the lay- put a trial because on account of it sounds reasonable and easy to keep your date figures. By the way the thirteen-month year was endorsed by the League of Nations in 1926. So you can see the scheme has been thought of in this United States before, so to speak.
