Lawson has constructed the mini revues so that they provide variety, comic routines, serious moments, solos and ensemble singing. fun, good entertainment and the singers are talented. The idea is not a new one, even for this area, but somehow the concept has never really caught on with the Kingston area restaurant-goer. And some businesses have been unable to financially carry this type of programming. We don't think this is going to be the case at The Beef House.

First, you have the talents of Lawson and his theatrical sense will immediately tell him if something is good or not, and secondly, you have an excellent kitchen in the restaurant which guarantees outstanding food fare. a winning team and the only deterent would be an uninterested public. One evening with 10 singers, who also double as waiters and waitresses, certainly dispels any negative thinking in this direction. The performers are all people who have worked with Lawson either as students or in one of the musical productions at the college. They are Ken Thompson, Thom Cranna, George Young, Neal Knapp, Ron Esposito, Lita Gonzalez, Roberta Powell, Laura Borzumato, Doreen Shea and Amy Lawson.

At the keyboard is Bill Van Keuren. They sing everything from the Fantasticks, Fiddler on the Roof, Bye, Bye. Dorothy Spar, preservation chairperson, reports a gift from an anonymous donor of a wealth of documents, concealed in a locked drawer of an old desk pertaining to Lock 49 on the Canal. Among the almost 2(H) items are contracts for lock-tenders, foreman's time hooks and time sheets as well as boat permits, school tax statements, supply requests and a poster showing rates of tolls. The documents are presently being appraised and catalogued and will be exhibited later by the society in its new museum.

The Canal Historical Society is currently conducting a fundraising drive to purchase the former St. John's Episcopal Church in High Falls as a permanent home for its many artifacts and memorabilia of the canal. LIFE TODAY.
