U. organizations have already taken steps to get into the light, but as yet very little actual work has been done. It is un-dei-stood that the women will to arouse Dutlic sentiment by holding a scries of meetings throughout the county. it is toalized that. there are hundreds of voters who are likely to take but very little iuterest in the campaign unless something Is done tn arouse them lo the gravity of the-situation.

This, the women argue, can be done In no better way than by holding meetings at which the issue shall bo fully discussed. One prominent W. C. T. U.

It is less than a month now until, the-election and I feel that it is high time, that we begin to do some actual work." Planning Big Time Hallowe'en New Castle Citizens Discuss -ing Last Night of October Events of Big Plans for a big Halloween celebration In this city on the Monday evening following the last night of October- are already being discussed here.

It. is the idea to arrange fnr a celebration this year that wil include several new features, raising of funds to get bands ant! cat.li prizes and bring out. a larger crowd than has ever heretofore been on the streets of New Caslle. No celebration was- held last year because of the fact that Halloween came on Saturday night. There was a controversy as lo what time should-be observed for the celebration, whether Saturday or Monday evening and ihe plans were dropped.

All are united for the celehratlon this year, Monday evening, the first o' November bring Ihe mnal acceptable night that could be designated. With the new curb lighting system here and Willi all eu-openilinu in uhe enterprise there 1s no reason why lhc New Castle Halloween celebration this year cannot be one or the biggest that has been staged here in manv vears. Rotary Club Act On Crossing Menace Dangerous street crossings came in lor a scoring at the hands of the members of the Jtotary club or this city at noon today when the club met at the weekly luncheon at the V. M.

C. A. As a result nf the informal discussion, the club committee of public affairs will take up the matter of better protection of the crossings with the city authorities. Some of the crossings mentioned as especially dangerous to pedestrians were the Mill and Washington, East and Washington, and Crotou and East Washington. Numerous automohlle accidents and narrow escapes from death hy pedestrians have aroused the members of the club to action.

Just as soon as the paving is done the street ear line will planed in service as far as the city line. Is complete and will be ready for just as soon as the street is opened for traffic.

Papers Certified To Harrisburg Not Known When list of Candidates Will Ito Certified Buck. The county commissioners have certified the vote for superior court judge, local court Judges and congress to the secretary of the cum-monwoalth at Harrisburg. The com-ini isiouei-s do not know when th list ot candidates who are to go oi the ticket will be certified back, but it is hot likely to be for several days, as the full list from all over the statu lias not yet been received- On Saturday, but 55 counties had re ported. There is no. question, how ever, but Hint Judge Porter's navm will go on the ticket.

Approaches To Bridge Are Costly Must Raise Buildings Near Grant Street" Structure; County and City Confer. Report of the estimated cusl. of fixing the approaches, to the Grant struct bridge, was presented council this morning hy City Engineer MI1-holland and County Engineer C'l-key, showing. what would be the espouse to place the approaches at' a grade required of the county, and what would be the cost 'of placing tho approaches at a grade suggested bv the eily. The county is renuired to construct a reasonable grade in the approaches to the new bridge.

It lias been suggested that the city pay-part, of the expense and make the grade more gradual. The estimate made by the engineers shows that the cost for tho grade required to be constructed by the county will cost Sii.SlS.DO, nnd proposed by l.he city will cost This would mean that tiie city would have to pay the difference between and or $1,238.20, if the grade is established a3 desired by the city. Several buildings wilt have to be raised, when the grade is changed, on hoth sides nf the river. On Tuesday morning a further conference will be held between the county ciiiiiinissitiiiers and the council when an agreement or understanding as to procedure will be reached.
