Williams was born April 14, 1911, in Mississippi, a son of Seth and Alma Norman Williams. He married Edith Williams, who died in 1978. Survivors Include two sons, Billy and Bobby, both of Chicago; and a sister, Ora Berry, Gary, Ind. Two stepsisters preceded him in death. Mr.

Williams had been a construction worker In the Lincoln area. He was a member of the Church of God in Christ, Lincoln. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army Corps. Olga Spandet DWIGHT The funeral of Olga R.

Skafgaard Spandet, 92, of Schaumburg, formerly of Dwight, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Dwight. The Rev. Paul Erickson will officiate.

Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, Dwight. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Von Qualen-Harris Funeral Home, Dwight, is in charge of arrangements. Mrs.

Spandet died at 6:50 p.m. Sunday (Aug. 21, 1988) at her home. She was born Nov. 24, 1895, in Dwight, a daughter of Christian Christiansen and Christine Jepsen Skafgaard.

She married Jens Spandet on Nov. 11, 1919, In Dwight. He survives. Also surviving are three daughters, June Foster, Aurora; Shirley Birkelbach, San Clemente, and Barbara Gazzolo, Evanston; a sister, Mrs. Karl Kunzie, Crystal Lake; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Spandet was a member of the St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church and attended Dwight public schools. Bloomington-Normal Morrow infant Jeffrey Morrow, seven-day-old infant son of Joseph and Lois Morrow, 303 Centennial Normal, died at 3:40 p.m. yesterday (Aug.

22, 1988) at St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria. He was taken to Metzler-Froelich Memorial Home, Bloomington. Alma Gatrell Alma L. Gatrell, 54, of 2103 Lamon Bloomington, died at 6:28 last night (Aug.

22, 1988) at the Mennonite Hospital Hospice Unit: She was taken to Brady Funeral Home, Bloomington. More deaths, next page Ruth Parsetich MINONK The funeral of Ruth E. Parsetich, 79, of Minonk will be at 2 p.m. today at Folkers-Froelich Memorial Home, Minonk. The Rev.

Jerry Tupper will officiate. Burial will be in Minonk Township Cemetery, Minonk. Visitation will be two hours before the service today at the funeral home. Mrs. Parsetich died at 8.35 p.m.

Sunday (Aug. 21, 1988) at the Lida Home, Minonk, where she had been a resident. She was born March 2, 1909, in Lynn Township, Woodford County, a daughter of Clarence and Elsie Stonier Tolan. She married Louis E. Parsetich in Chicago.

He died in August 1962. Survivors include one sister, Maxlne Harms, Minonk; and one brother, Leland, Washburn. Memorials may be made to the Lida Home, Minonk, or to a charity of the donor's choice. Daniel F. Laffey DELAVAN Daniel F.

Laffey, 70, Winnetka, formerly of Delavan, died at 2:30 a.m. Saturday (Aug. 20, 1988) at Evanston Hospital. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Christ Church, Winnetka.

He was cremated. The William H. Scott Funeral Service, Wilmette, is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Laffey was born Oct.

25, 1917, in Delavan, a son of John T. and Dora Anthes Laffey. He married Joan Muldoon, who survives. Other survivors two sons, Thomas, Angola, and Daniel, Clare-mont, Ontario, Canada; a daughter, Mary Jane Laffey, Los Angeles; a sister, Marjorie Tuley, Delavan; a brother, Joseph, 113 Conley Circle, Bloomington; and a grandson. Two brothers preceded him in death.

Mr. Laffey was a graduate of Knox College, Galesburg. He was a partner in the advertising agency of David H. Stremmel Chicago. He served with the Army Signal Corps in the South Pacific during World War II.

Louis B. Williams LINCOLN Louis B. Williams, 77, Lincoln, died Sunday (Aug. 21, 1988) at the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Danville. There will be a graveside service at 10:30 a.m.

Wednesday at Union Cemetery, Lincoln, with full military rites by the Lincoln veterans organizations. There will be no visitation. Kerrigan Funeral Home, Lincoln, is In McLEAN Arlie R. Swearlngen, 98, a lifelong resident of McLean, died at 6:25 a.m. yesterday (Aug.

22, 1088) at Mennonlte Hospital, Bloomington. His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at McReynolds-Her-rmann Funeral Home, McLean, the Revs. Dean Benton and Robert Twist officiating. Burial will be in Funks Grove Cemetery.

Visitation will be from to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. He was born June 4, 1890, in McLean, a son of John and Laura Atwood Swearlngen. Survivors include one sister, Lena Zoeller, McLean. He was preceded in death by seven brothers and two sisters.

Mr. Swearlngen was a grain farmer and raised Black Angus cattle, retiring June 7, 1980. He was a member of the Modern Woodmen of America and Royal Neighbors. Mr. Swearlngen was an Army veteran of World World I.

He was the last charter member and the last World War I veteran of the McLean American Legion. Memorials may be made to the McLean Rescue Squad or to a charity of the donor's choice. Ruth Etna Huffman CLINTON Ruth Etna Huffman, 95, of Clinton died at 10:40 a.m. yesterday (Aug. 22, 1988) at her home.

She was taken to Herington-Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton. Fred Wright ONARGA Fred Wright, 68, Onarga, died at 9 p.m. Sunday (Aug. 21, 1988) at his home. There will be a graveside service at 11 a.m.

Wednesday at Findlay Cemetery, the Rev. Lyle Jeffe officiating. There will be no visitation. The Knapp Funeral Home, Onarga, is in charge of arrangements. Mr.

Wright was born Dec. 10, 1918, in Findlay, a son of Fred and Stella Greenwood Wright. Survivors include two sons, David, Mattoon, and Fred, in California; a daughter, Cynthia Wright, Champaign; two sisters, Blanche Watson, Mishawaka, and Blue-belle Shuck, Bethany; and a brother, Harold, New Port Richey, Fla. A sister preceded him in death. Mr.

Wright was a retired mechanic at the Hicks Gas Co. in Roberts. He was a veteran of World War II. Johnny C. Dabbs LINCOLN Johnny C.

Dabbs, 45, Tulsa, formerly from Logan County, died at 11:30 p.m. Sunday (Aug. 21, 1988) at St. John's Hospital, Tulsa. Arrangements are pending at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home, Lincoln.

Elsie M. Anderson WASHINGTON Elsie M. Anderson, 81, of Washington, a retired secretary, seamstress and baby sitter, died at 4:25 a.m. yesterday (Aug. 22, 1988) at Americana Healthcare Center, Peoria.

Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Washington, the Rev. Dean Beckwith officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, LaSalle.

Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Mason-White Funeral Home, Washington, has charge of arrangements. Mrs. Anderson was born Oct 12, 1906, in Oglesby, a daughter of John and Elizabeth Morrison.

She married Everett B. Anderson on Sept. 14, 1940, in Grinnell, Iowa. He died in 1958. Survivors include one sister, Elizabeth Mauschbaugh, Washington.

An infant brother preceded her in death. Mrs. Anderson was a professional secretary for the Toledo, Peoria Western Railroad, retiring in 1940. Later, she was a seamstress and a baby sitter for many families in the Washington area. She was a member of St.

Mark's Lutheran Church, to which memorials may be made. Gertrude Piatt CLINTON The funeral of Gertrude Piatt, 87, of Clinton will be at 2 p.m. today at Herington-Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton. J. Kent Hickerson will officiate.

Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Clinton. Visitation will be for one hour before services today at the funeral home. She died at 5:40 a.m. Sunday (Aug. 21, 1988) at Crestview Nursing Center, Clinton.

She was born April 7, 1901, in Clinton, a daughter of Uriah H. and Fannie Lisenby Waldron. She married J. Don Piatt on Aug. 3, 1922, in Bloomington.

He died June 17, 1967. Survivors include two sons, Robert E. and William both of Clinton; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, one sister and one son. Mrs.

Piatt was a member of International Ladies' Garment Workers Union and was a retired garment factory employee. Memorials may be made to Dr. John Warner Hospital, Clinton. CLINTON Charles Richard Payne, 62, of Clinton died at 10:35 a.m. yesterday (Aug.

22, 1988) at Decatur Memorial Hospital. His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Clinton United Methodist Church, the Rev. Robert R. Wood officiating.

Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Clinton. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Herington-Calvert i Funeral Home, Clinton. He was born April 24, 1928, in Clinton, a son of William A. and Inez E.

McKinney Payne. He married Genitia Meeks on Aug. 8, 1948, In DeWitt County. She survives. Also surviving are four daughters, Tanya Lowery, Sonya Jenkins and Suzanne Turney, all of Clinton, and Sharon Litherland, Evansville, and nine grandchildren.

He was a member of the Clinton United Methodist Church. A farmer, Mr. Payne was a member of the DeWitt County Farm Bureau. Memorials may be made to his church or to the American Cancer Society. Harold Armstrong CLINTON Harold J.

Armstrong, 65, of Clinton died at ,6:35 last night (Aug. 22, 1988) at Dr. John Warner Hospital, Clinton. He was taken to Herington-Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton. Mabel I.

Boone EUREKA Mabel I. Boone, 99, a 9V4-year resident of Maple Lawn Homes, Eureka, died at 8:10 p.m. Sunday (Aug. 21, 1988) at St. Fran-, cis Medical Center, Peoria, where she bad been a patient for two weeks.

Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Otto-Argo Funeral Home, Eureka, with the Rev. Allen Reed officiating. Entombment will be in Graceland Mausoleum, De catur. There will be no visitation.

A memorial service will be conducted at 3 p.m. today in Maple Lawn Homes assembly room. The Rev. Robert Harnish will officiate. She was born Sept.

15, 1888, in i Eureka, a daughter of Charles D. and Ida Brown Moore. She married William P. Boone in 1912 in Eureka. He died Dec.

13, 1975. Survivors include one sister, Mona McFarlane, Peoria Heights. She was preceded in death by one daughter and six sisters. Mrs. Boone was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Pontiac.

In 1970, she received a 50-year certificate as a member of the Or-' der of the Eastern Star in Pontiac. She was a former member and high priestess of the Samaria 1 White Shrine of Jerusalem No. 29, Pontiac. She was a former member of the Pontiac Elks Lodge. Memorials may be made to Maple Lawn Homes, Eureka.

STREATOR Lisa M. Garretson, 26, of DeKalb, formerly of rural Streator, died at 11 p.m. Sunday (Aug. 21, 1988) In a fire at her home. A story is on page A2.

Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Winterrowd Funeral Home, Streator, the Rev. John Mc-Climans officiating. Burial will be in Cornell Cemetery, Cornell. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m.

today at the funeral home. Miss Garretson was born Oct. 13, 1961, in Streator, a daughter of Glenn and Marie Simpson Garretson. Survivors include her parents, rural Streator; four brothers, Gerald Garretson, rural Streator; Thomas Garretson, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Troy Garretson, Champaign; and Todd Garretson, Mesa, and three sisters, Glenda Pecka, DeKalb; Janice Jakubcin, Denver; and Bonita Calandra, San Ramon, Calif. Miss Garretson graduated from Otter Creek Elementary School in 1975, Streator Township High School in 1979 and Northern Illinois University in 1984.

She had a bachelor's degree in art and elementary education. She was employed at Kishwaukee Country Club and Cardinal Glass DeKalb. Miss Garretson was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Streator. Everett Freeman MASON CITY Everett Freeman, 76, of Kankakee, formerly of Mason County, died at 5:36 p.m. Saturday (Aug.

20, 1988) at St. Mary's Hospital, Kankakee. His graveside funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Mason City Cemetery, the Rev. Mark Kim officiating.

In case of rain, the service will be in Mason City United Presbyterian Church. There will be no visitation. Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, Kankakee, is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Freeman was born Dec.

31, 1911, in Mason County, a son of Linn and Alma Stone Freeman. Survivors include one brother, Charles Minneapolis; and two sisters, Louise Trimble, Hot Springs Village, and Hazel Ruth Watson, Webster, N.Y. Mr. Freeman, a resident of Kankakee for about 15 years, was a former Caterpillar Tractor Co. employee.
