The convener for Holland reported that she received 50 yards of quilt material which must be finished by the end of February. During the business period it was decided to hold another crokinole and euchre in the hall in the near future. The annual meeting of St. James' Lutheran Church was held in the church with a very good attendance. Rev.

A. J. Datars occupied the chair for the business period. Reports were given by the secretaries of the different societies, all showing a veryy successful year. At this meeting it was learned with regret that the pastor had accepted a call to Kitchener.

Rev. Mr. Datars has been the pastor here for nearly 15 years. Wm. Leach spent a few days in Toronto.

G. H. Davidson spent a few days in Toronto and with friends at Aurora recently. The Williamsford unit of the Red Cross held a progressive crokinole the hall. There were 11 tables in play.

Mrs. W. A. Davidson won the ladies' prize and Louis Heft won the men's prize. The consolation awards went to Sylvia Davidson and Jimmie Nuhn.

Lunch was. served by the ladies. The Gospel Workers W.M.S. met at the home of Mrs. Wm.

Heimbecker. The president, Mrs. (Rev.) Dean, was in the chair. This meeting was the annual one. The officers were elected as follows: President.

Mrs. Dean; vice-president. Mrs. E. Krause: secretary, W.

Heimbecker; treasurer, Miss Dora Short. The annual meeting of Knox Presbyterian Church was held in the church with a fair attendance. Rev. R. Duncanson conducted the meeting.

Reports were given for the W.M.S., Ladies' Aid. Y.P.S. and the Sunday School. The church report showed a very successful: year financially. All- obligations met, with A balance on hand in all branches.

The annual meeting of the community hall was held in the hall with a very good attendance. The secretary-treasurer read the financial report, which showed 8 good balance on hand. The various rates on entertainments are the same as in former years except for the rent for use of the hall when a miscellaneous shower is held, which was raised to $3. CEYLON Jas. McMullen visited his mother recently in Toronto.

Miss Jean Collinson of Toronto spent the weekend at her home here. Mrs. Roy Gartley of Midland visited with her sister. Mrs. E.

C. Mitchell, and Mr. Mitchell. Wm. McAuley returned to Toronto the first of the week after visiting at the home of Mr.

and Mrs. Will Burnett here. Mrs. C. E.

Mitchell visited with friends in Toronto. Earl McLeod and daughter. Marian, of Oshawa, spent weekend at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Muir, F.

here. Marshall spent the weekend with friends in Toronto. Mrs. J. Knox returned to her home here after visiting for some time with her daughters.

Mrs. Will McCormack and Mrs. J. Gillespie of Honeville. Mr.

and Mrs. Will Burnett entertained their friends at a euchre party last Tuesdav evening. There were 16 tables of euchre In play The high scores were obtained by Mrs. Teeter and E. Hazard and the consolation prize went to Mrs.

J. Stewart. The proceeds are for the soldiers' fund. Miss Catherine Windus of Toronto sent the weekend at the home of Mr. and Mrs.

I. B. Whittaker. Mrs. Jos.

Oliver was 81 vears old on Feb. 15. Mrs. Oliver is in her usual health and attends to her household duties. Her many friends hope she may have many more birthdays to celebrate.

KILSYTH On Monday evening, Feb. 14. Mi1ton Moore of Derby No. 1 Farm Forum organized a new Forum known as Derby Maple Hill Forum, at the home of Mr. and Mrs.

Carence Black. Con. 9, Derby. There was an attendance of 25. It was agreed that rural vouth develon character and initiative by daily contact with nature although lackmany modern conveniences enloved by their urban cousins.

Sydenham, held a very successful and delightful Valentine party in the school on Monday afternoon. Games, choruses and contests were much entoyed. The crokinole social held by the Women's Association of the United Church on 1 Friday evening was quite well attended despite unfavorable weather.

Several of the ladies served lunch at the close of the games. The farm mechanics short course held under the auspices cf the Grey County Federation of Agriculture in Best's hall for two days this week was well attended by the farmer's of the surrounding district.

Keen interest was shown at all sessions and much knowledge was obtained from the lectures and demonstrations. Mrs. Win. Hutchinson entertained the Circle at her home afternoon. Mrs.

Battist, Mission, (Rev.) Moore gave a talk on home missions. Stanley Laycock returned from Toronto where he had been attending the fall fairs convention, George Best, marked his 81st WOODFORD birthday quietly at his home on Feb. 9, receiving several messages of congratulations from relatives and friends. Master Bob Hutchinson received paintul injuries to his wrist when he was dragged a considerable distance by a colt this week, as he was attempting to lead it. The Red Cross met at the home of Mrs.

Jack Reid on Wednesday afternoon with a good attendance. Two quilts were quilted. Quilt blocks were distributed to the members to be pieced for a quilt. Letters were read from Jim Chambers and Harry McNabb from overseas. thanking the society for Christmas bexes received.

It was decided to quilt two quilts. Refreshments were served. Robert Caudle returned home from the Owen Sound hospital after undergoing treatment there. Geo. Earles of Detroit.
