C. S. gathered in the church house for their annual capsule sister party on February 4. Nearly all the members and several visitors, some who used to be members but moved away were present to enjoy the delicious luncheon. The ladies hustled about busily arranging tables for the various covered dishes which the members had brought.

A fdeling of neighborly good will was prevalent when all were gathered around the tables and partaking of dishes of "most every kind of food imaginable." After the business part of the meeting was attended to in the af ternoon, three new members were welcomed into the society. Then the members learned who their sisters had been for the preceding year. New sisters were drzftvn for the. coming year, after which the pleasant occasion was brought to a close, reluctantly. Paul's Methodist Church in Greensboro Monday afternoon at o'clock, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. Charles E. Davis. Burial was made in Sudlersville cemetery. Mr.

Coursey died Friday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. William Holdcn, in Dover, from a heart attack following a long illness. He was a retired ticket agent of (he Pennsylvania Raiiroad Company, having served 45 years at Barclay and Price, Queen Anne's county, and Greensboro. He had been a resident of Greensboro for the past 15 years, having retired a -few years ago to poor health. Mr.

Coursey served on the board of trustees of St. Paul's Methodist Church and was secretary of the Sunday School. Besides his wife; he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Holden, of Dover, and Mrs. Lynn R.

Cheezum, of the Panama Canal Zone, and three grandchildren. He also leaves two brothers, J. Preston Coursey, of Centreville, and C. Elwood Coursey, of Barclay. JUDGE WALTER A.

The death of Judge Walter A. Powell, 92, occurred last Friday, the 6th of February, at his home in Dover, after a prolonged illness. A native of Delaware, Judge Powell after receiving his A. B. degree at Dickinson College, took up the study of Law in the office of Robert Jump in Denton.

In 1881 he began the practice of law in Kansas City, and was elected judge of the circuit court of Jackson county, Mo. He retired about 30 years ago and 'returned to Delaware to make his tiome. Marked for his literary and religious interests, Judge Powell achieved recognition as an author and as a devotee of Wesley Methodist Church and other Methodist activities. He the author of "The Pilgrims and their Religious, Intellectual and Civic published in 1923, and of "A History of published in 1928. He also did general character historical writing.

His only immediate survivor is his vife, Mrs. Ray (Heydrick) Powell. Mr. James A. Trazzare, of Denton, is a cousin of the deceased, his mother, inrnh Elizabeth (Redden) Trazzare Mrs.

W. Claude Hubbard, Mrs. Leslie J. Clarke and Mrs. Russell E.

Satterfield, all of Wilmington; five sons, Dallas Nelson Charles A. Carroll ali of Wilmington, and J. Noble Carroll, of near Felton, and R. Eugene Carroll, of New York; 12 grandchildren, and two great grandchildren; a brother, Robert A. Heath, of Baltimore, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon in the Union Grove Methodist Church near with the Rev. H. J. Savage, pastor of the Wesieyan Methodist Church of Wilmington, officiating assisted by the Rev. J.

GERTRUDE H. CARROLL Following a breif illness, Mrs, Gertrude Heath Carroll, aged 67, died Sunday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. L. B. Otwell, in Wilmington, Del.

She had been in failing health for several years. A native of Baltimore she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Melvina Fitchett Heath. She spent most of her life near Preston, but had lived in Wilmington for the past nine years. Her husband, Charles A. Carroll, died last September.

In addition to Mrs. Otwell, she is survived by three other daughters, James Temple, Auctioneer Under and by virtue of the authority vested in me by a Power of Attorney executed by Jerome Patterson and Sallie May Patterson, his wife, dated the 5th day of February, 1948, and about to be recorded among the Land Record Books for Caroline County, the undersigned Attorney-in-Fact will offer and expose at public sale to the highest bidder at the home of the said Jerome and Sallie May Patterson located in Greensboro in the Second Election District of Caroline County, Maryland, on the north side of the public road leading from Greensboro to Whiteleysburg, on Saturday, February 28,1948 beginning at 10:30 o'clock A. the following described personal property: HOUSEHOLD GOODS 1 living room suite, 1 dining table with chairs, 1 china closet, 1 kitchen cabinet, 2 iron beds and bedding with mattresses and springs, 2 dressers, lot of chairs and rockers, 1 kitchen range, 2 coal stoves, 1 oil cook stove, lot of floor coverings, cooking and dishes, lot pf picture frames and many other household articles too numerous to mention.
