1 Ill. a a a a a a Everett Foley PAXTON (PNS)-Everett Foley, I 62, died at 3:15 a.m. Tuesday at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana. His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday the Brown-Miller Funeral Home, with the Rev.

Roger James officiating. Burial will be in Glen Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mr.

Foley was born Feb. 20, 1914, at Russell Springs, a son of Milton and Hester Tarter Foley. He married Garnett Price Feb. 15, 1935, at Bloomington. Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Mrs.

Dorothy Ruether, Chicago, and Aldrich, Paxton; three brothers, Henry, and Louie and John, both of Champaign, and two sisters, Mrs. Rose Berg, Tampa, and Mrs. Eula Koch, Savoy. A brother and a sister preceded him in death. He was a member of the Church of Christ and was the heating maintenance engineer at Chanute Air Force Base for about 27 years.

Memorials may be made to the Church of Christ in Paxton or the American Cancer Society. Central Illinois Deaths Everett Brookshier LINCOLN -Everett C. Brookshier, 81, died at a.m. Tuesday at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital. His funeral will be at 3 p.m.

Thursday at Holland and Barry Funeral Home, the Rev. Wilson R. Forbush officiating. Burial will be in Zion Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.

today at the funeral home. Mr. Brookshier was born Sept. 2, 1894, in Winchester, son of Akelles and Susan Moreland Brookshier. He married Gertrude Ross Nov.

26, 1921, in Normal. She survives. Also surviving are a son, David, Denver, a daughter, Mrs. Judy Armour, Lincoln; 12 grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren, and six great -grandchildren. A son, two sisters and four brothers preceded him in death.

He was a retired farmer and also retired from the Lincoln Developmental Center, where he was employed. He was a member of the United Methodist Church and was a veteran of World War I. Logan board pays tribute to deceased LINCOLN-Logan County Board members stood Tuesday for a moment of silent tribute to Mrs. Violet Mary Scully and Kenneth Zimmerman. Mrs.

Scully died Aug. 9 of an apparent heart attack while on a shopping trip in Cannes, France. A conservationist and philanthropist, Mrs. Scully had planned and financed the landscaping of the courthouse grounds and county-owned Washington Park. The park was renamed Violet M.

Zimmerman, executive director of the Logan County Housing Authority and former member of the housing authority board, died Aug. 12. He was Logan County sheriff from 1962 to 1966 and deputy and chief deputy for 12 years prior to his election. Zimmerman was active in charitable, civic and Masonic organizations.

Shout A Bloomington man wound up in trouble Tuesday night after police said he shouted obscenities at a line of customers at the Dairy Queen, 1100 S. Main, Normal. But it wasn't a simple shout.

Police said Brad W. Shepherd, 20, of 1101, S. Low illegally used a publicaddress system mounted in his car to communicate his feelings about 9 o'clock as he drove by the snack shop. Shepherd posted $25 to appear in court Aug. 27 on a charge of using a public-address system without a permit.

That, police said, is a violation of a Normal ordinance. Lumber stolen Lumber, valued at $200, was stolen over the weekend from two Normal construction sites, one in the 200 block of Broadway and another at Beaufort Street and Fell Avenue, according to police. The lumber was owned by the John Burns Construction Orland Park. Dorothy Mayfield, Brookhaven, two sisters, Miss Luvenia Walls, McComb, and Mrs. Carrie Stevenson, Memphis, 37 grandchildren and 10 greatgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by two daughters. He was a member of Union Baptist Church. Benjamin Schwandt Benjamin Otto Schwandt, 59, a Bloomington native, died Tuesday at a hospital near his home in Cary, N.C.

Mr. Schwandt was a retired sergeant major with the U.S. Army. His funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the Brown-Wynne Funeral Home in Cary.

Burial with full military honors will be in Raleigh National Cemetery. Mr. Schwandt was born April 24, 1917, in Bloomington, a son of William and Pearl Poland Schwandt. He married Frances Hanover, who survives in Cary. Also surviving are his mother, 101 E.

MacArthur; two daughters, Sherril Gooch, Cumberland, and Mrs. Judith Redman, Providence Forge, a son, William Cary, N.C.; three sisters, Mrs. Adeline MacDowell, 101 E. MacArthur, Mrs. Helen Duncan, El Paso, and Mrs.

Virginia McWilliams, San Diego, and eight grandchildren. Hit-and-run accident injures boy A 5-year-old boy was injured Tuesday night in a hit accident in the alley behind 1004 E. Olive, according to police. Sonny Garcia, 1004 E. Olive, was treated at St.

Joseph's Hospital Medical Center and released. Police said the boy was playing in the alley when a white van, approaching from behind him, "bumped" him, knocking him to the ground. He struck his head on the pavement, police said. The van driver helped the boy into his yard and then drove away, police said. The boy was taken to the hospital by his mother.

His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Metzler Memorial Home. Burial will be in Park Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

He was born April 1, 1904, in McLean County, a son of Michael and Margaret Durkin Quinn. He married Nettie Eula Harris Nov. 15, 1932, in Bloomington. She survives at home. Also surviving are four daughters, Mrs.

Mary Clark, 13B Northmeadow Village, Normal; Mrs. Jane Horstmann, 42 Park City South; Mrs. Sue Hays, 1321 Beverly Lane, and Mrs. Linda Thomas, 313 W. Kelsey; three sons, Donald E.

806 W. Washington; Mike, Mahomet, and Frank, 202 Park City South; two sisters, Mrs. Agnes James, Indianapolis, and Mrs. Margaret Duncon, Madison, and 15 grandchildren. A grandaughter, three brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.

He retired after 29 years from the old American Foundry now Modine Manufacturing Co. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and a member of of the International Molders and Allied Workers Union. Mrs. Marguerite Morgan, 68, of 1518 N. Linden died at her home at 12:58 p.m.

Tuesday. Lawrence Cooper, McLean County deputy coroner, said her death was due to natural causes and that an inquiry would be conducted. Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Stamper Memorial Home. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery, Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Thursday at the funeral home. Mrs. Morgan was born Jan. 31, 1908, in Hopedale, a daughter of Elmer and Lillian Reed Ranney. She married Joseph W.

Morgan. He died Dec. 22, 1948. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Barbara Kline, El Paso, and Mrs.

Lillian DiBattista, Colorado Springs, a son, Joseph, Dallas, two sisters, Mrs. Viola Gruber, 318 S. Euclid, and Mrs. Nellie Hindenberg, 814 E. Olive; three brothers, Henry Ranney, 1310 N.

Mason; William Ranney, Windsor Locks, and Don Ranney, Colorado Springs; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A brother preceded her in death. Pre-school scheduled Pre-school at Western Avenue Community Center will begin Aug. 30. Classes for children aged 3, 4 and 5 will meet daily for two hours, starting at 9:30 a.m.

An afternoon session may be offered if a large number of students is enrolled. Mothers are asked to volunteer as aides once a month. Transportation and scholarships are available. Linda Harpman will be in charge. A new feature this year will be gymnastic instruction provided by Mrs.

School unit budget reviewed at Chenoa CHENOA (PNS)-The Chenoa District 9 Board of Education reviewed Monday the tentative budget for fiscal 1976-77. A public hearing will be held on the budget Sept.

15 in the Chenoa Grade School Library. The board discussed a $3,237.61 request from the McLean County treasurer for tax collection services. A court ruling is expected in mid-September on whether school districts must pay for this service. The board also discussed the Dec. 6 referendum, which was contested by eight residents.

They contended the election that approved the 50-cent increase in the education fund was illegal. The vote was 271-270. Supt. Eugene Jontry presented the board with a cost analysis of tax increase comparisons of Chenoa Township and its eight municipal units. The increases in the comparison were from 1973 to 1975.

In other business; the board authorized Jontry to hire one of the six janitorial candidates. It approved Carol Shevokas as a library assistant. It tabled until September a request for serving meals to nursery school students in a private program until more information on costs is obtained. It approved paying bills of $16,145.03 in the education fund and $13,177.35 in the transportation fund. It approved paying bills totaling about $3,550 in several other funds.

A application of calcium chloride will be put on the school parking lot before school begins. It will cost between $177 and $187. In other action, the board: -Discussed rental charges versus buying containers from the Winterland Hauling Co. of Lexington. The board appointed Jontry to negotiate the purchase of the containers from the company.

-Studied the possibility of buying a Xerox system which would be cheaper than the present system of mimeographing and duplicating costs. -Approved paying junior college tuition for Gary Fillingham..
