C8 THE PANTAGRAPH, Thursday, April 23, 1987. WEATHER 3 Hz (showers Mansion group touts fundraiser at Floral Weekend The David Davis Mansion Foundation is sponsoring its first fundraiser, in conjunction with the mansion's annual Floral Weekend, this Saturday and Sunday at the mansion, 1000 E. Monroe Drive, Bloomington. For the annual floral display, foundation members will decorate the house with a variety of flowers to recreate the mansion's Victorian history when Sarah Davis, wife of Judge David Davis, filled her home every spring with fresh-cut flowers from the estate's gardens. The foundation was established last September as a not-for-profit group whose purpose is to provide historical and educational information about the mansion, which was built in the early 1870s, and to aid in its restoration.

Drinks and cookies will be sold at the Victorian tea and biscuit sale, and fresh flowers and note cards depicting the mansion also will be available. The foundation plans to use the proceeds to purchase items, such as a lace tablecloth, for the mansion's dining room. According to Cindy Brand, a volunteer at the mansion, the foundation will be sponsoring more fundraisers throughout the year, such as an ice cream social this summer. The group hopes to gradually raise enough money to acquire a computer to keep track of inventory, restore carriage bodies to provide carriage rides at the mansion and for other improvements. Money will also help in providing programs for schoolchildren and preserving costumes the mansion uses at Christmas.

The mansion will be open Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., the last tour starting at 4 p.m. Warm 40 60 Com 6180 Occluded ygr 81 110 Stationary -Temperatures- Yesterday Blg'tn-Nor. 47 50 51 54 47 Flagstaff 25 cdv Tampa-SIPtrsbg 83 62 cdv Grand Raoidt 49 41 .35 cdv Topeka 64 43 clr HI Lo Pr Great Falls 58 39 cdv Tucson 81 55 cdy 50 43 3 Greensboro.N.C. 85 52 rn Tulsa 73 46 clr 42 Hartford 59 54 rn W.shlngton.D.C.
