She was bestowed all honors, including a choice position by riding in a convertible in the parade. REIGNS AS QUEEN—Diane Dailey (above) was selected as queen of the Elmwood-High School Homecoming events. The king is Richard Hanunan, who was introduced at the homecoming dance Friday evening. They are, from left to right, Jean Wetterling, Peggy Peasley and Ruth Ann Fox. u_ -,.' \ . ^S^MA STRONGHURST FRESHMEN WISH GRIDIRON SUCCESS IN PARADE* Kings to Offer Travelog at Bishop Hill BISHOP Hlhh - Mr. and Mrs. Burton King of Galva will present their travelog Oct. 16 at the Bishop HiU Community Methodist Church at 7:30 p.m. on their trip around the world. King also is showing different methods of farming in places around the world. The Willing Worker class is sponsoring the program for the public and will serve refreshments following the travelog. Mrs. Walter Hedstrom is in charge of arrangements. It was incorrectly stated in a previous announcement that she would present the travelog. Hostesses for the evening are Mrs. Franklin Anderson, Mrs. Burton Armstrong, Mrs. Wylie Ericson and Mrs. Vernon E. Nordstrom. Stage Homecoming Parades Preps Design Floats Elmwodd and Stronghurst kicked off their 19#9 homecoming festivities with gala floats and march* ing bands in ideal Indian Summer weather Friday afternoon. Each class at EHS and SHS contributed a float built around themes wishing the best to their respective gridiron teams. King and Queen candidates from each school were included in the processions. A 20-0 setback at the hands of Wethersfield failed to dampen the enthusiasm of the Elmwood homecomers as they prepared for tonight's dance. Stronghurst meets RMA this afternoon and will also dance tonight. Crepe paper and music is the order of the weekend as these two Cities back their respective Trojan elevens. JUNIORS SCORED SECOND IN ELMWOOD PARADE WITH THIS FLOAT. Birthday h Celebrated at Alpha Party ALPHA - Jolly Neighbor Birthday Club honored Mrs. Eugene Jordan Wednesday. Games provided the afternoons diversion when prizes were awarded to Mrs. Carl Brown, Mrs. Walter Borg, Mrs. Holger Carlson, Mrs. Raleigh Benson and Mrs. C. W. Kronsted. Lunch was served and the honoree was given a gift of money. Mr. and Mrs. Theodora Johnston, accompanied by his brother Robert Johnson of Monmouth, Sept. 28 attended the funeral of an uncle, A. T. Witt, at Three Rivers, Mich. Clyde Thompson of Monmouth, a former Alpha resident visited several days here recently at the Walter Peterson home and called on other friends. READ THE WANT ADS!
