Plans and preparations for • a Christmas party were discussed. Linda Weber was elected music chairman and Janice Ferguson, recreation chairman. Jariice Fergrfion and Margaret Williamson gave talks and Margaret Nurre demonstrated and talked on "How to Frame on Picture. 1 ', Mat and New officers Jan J Clark, president; Marianne Nurre, vice president; Barbara DeGeeter, secretary-treasurer; Betty Menke, historian.'.Jean Rake, photographer: and Margaret Nurre, reporte were installed in office by the ok officers. Linda Weber playec "Dreaming" while they marched in. Mrs Weber and Connie Opsal were guests. Gene Nurre has been quiet ill suffering from virus pneumonia. Mr and Mrs Elmer Schneider are the parents of a son born recently at St, Ann hospital. Mrs Mary Froehle and daughters Janice and Regina and Frances . Schiltz spent several days in Kentucky where they visited Mrs Froehle's son Delbert who is leaving this week for overseas duty. ' Mr and Mrs Richard Menke and girls.and Mr and Mrs John Menke were supper guests of Mr and. Mrs Harold Winkel and family at IWhittemore Sunday evening. A large crowd' wqs on hand at the ' Altar society meeting Thursday;Afternoon. Mrs J, A. Devine won high score, Mrs Maurice Bernhard, Jo w, and Mrs F, J. Welp .cut prize. Mrs Laurence Bergman entertained 12 .ladies at her home Tuesday afternoon at- traveling bingo party. Prizes, were won by Mrs Alice Barslow, Mrs Geo. Doocy and Mrs J. F. Kolinsky. Mr and Mrs Albert McCarthy left this week for Texas where they will spend the winter. Lizzie Nabor is on an extended vacation in Arizona where she is visiting'relatives. Sister Mary Germanine, who- underwent surgery, is getting along nicely at Mercy hospital, Ft. Dodge. Mrs Richard Menke and Alice,-Mrs Cletus Dorr, Mrs Laurence Bergman and Mrs Geo. Laing, Supt. of Schools were present regarding the problem of children crossing.the streets where school flashers are constructed. After much discussion the Mayor was Instructed to employ additional help to police said crossings for a trial period. The City Attorney was Instructed to notify the bonding company the status t>f the blacktopping project which the engineers state is about 65% completed. Builders permits were granted to Mrs Bessie Wnlker, Theo. Larson, Wilbur Relnders, P. J. Kohlhaas and Craig Smith; A beer permit was renewed to A. H. Johnson. A resolution was adopted approving a contract and bond of the Lunde) Const. Co. for storm sewer construction. A Resolution was also adopted accepting the work of the Clark & Fi'tz Const. Co. for sanitary sewer construction. This was the time set to consider a proposal by John Glsch to purchase city owned land near the sewage treatment plant, no other offers were received the Council took no action The following claims were allowed. The court voted to send a donation to the Council of Retarded Children of Kossuth County. After the meeting members ol the court put on a play entitled "The Family Rosary." Refreshments were served by the lunch committee with Irene Will as chairlady. Prizes awarded were to Regina Dorr, plate prize; Caroline Kunkel, spoon; Gladys Thill, cup; Mary Lou Meyer, door; and Stella Arndorfer received attendance prize. The next meeting will be a pot luck dinner Dec. 15. IF IT'S NEWS — WE WANT IT Council Minutes COUNCIL MINUTES The City Council met in special atsaion, October 31, 1!I55, at 10:30 a.m. with the Mayor and all Councilmen present. Also present were Elead Weener, Leon Laird. Everett Baldus, Walter Sciuldknecht and Albert Boekelman and their Attorney Joe E. Lynch, Sr. and Duane Jensen and his Attorney Leo Cassel. The meeting was called to consider a complaint regarding the construction of an addition to a warehouse by Duane Jensen. A large doorway has been constructed on the west side of said building whlcb was not shown on the building application, and the only means to use this doorway would be crossing a vacant lot in the Single Family District After much discussion the Council adjourned to 8:30 p.m. to further study tills matter.
