It is rumored that a number of patients were left In the burning building, having hidden under beds and other places where thy could not be found by rescuers. When the fires broke out In the north annex soon after 8 o'clock some of the patients escaped, but the asylum authorities systematized the removal of the inmates from the burning wing to another part of the hospital.
