FOUR TITE LIN'COLX state JOTRNAL. MOVDAV. NOVEMBER 29. MEET AT HASTINGS High School Mythical Some Real Action in That Nebraska-Washington Game. i Post-Season Clash Friday on Hastings Grid to Pick Shadow Champ.

They do things when they doo them down at Crete and out at Gothenberg. They have wrapped up for Friday delivery on the Hastings college grid, a football game which, if the state conference would recognize champions, might produce Just that thing. Coach Browne of Lincoln high received word from Coach Klein of Crete that school authorities of Crete and of (iothenberg had approved the proposed game. He, Coach Klein, had communicated with Coach Fred Thomsen who giggled a few and declared that It's a great life. That they do things In Crete and in Gothenberg with some show of npeed ia indicated from the fact that before the coaches of the two schools hung up their receivers, the Friday officials were tentatively nailed.

Earl Johnson will refereo, Coach Browne of Lincoln, will umpire and Don Elliott will bead-line the game on the field. While the governing body of state high school football is ing out of the cUanipioushlp stuff this yeaa'- -a good sneeze In view of the fact that Nebraska is a big state with a lot of high-stepping prep teams that seldom see earh other, smart football men here and there will tell you that the winner of the Gothenberg-Creie tilt will produce the greatest undeteated, high team of the year. But don't overlook the There are 70,000 or more people In Greater Lincoln who Insist that Lincoln high had the greatest aggregation in the state, the middle west and maybe In the whole world. Grand Island toppled tbe and Black after that great Toledo victory and then the Islanders fell. In any and all events, however, the game of Friday should be a bear cat and If such a thing as a newspaper decision or a mythical title, let It go to the winner.

Both Crete and Gothenberg have played graud football. Both have met real teams In their respective terrftorlea. impressive 25 to 0 win over the undeieated Havelock team was proof enougn of the class of "Pop" Klein aggregation. Gothenberg, possioly with the heavier schedule, has scampered over such teams as Leilngton, Kearney, McCook, Curtis Aggies and North Platte. Browne who must realize that his Red and Black warriors carried plenty of punch, probably would grin up one sleeve and down the other at a chance to play any team.

He agrees, however, that there is nothing for Lincoln to claim and like the good sport he Is, Xuakes this statement; "I believe the winner of the Gothenberg-Crete tilt is entitled to all honors as newspaper or mythical state champion. Surely they are just about the two Strongest undefeated teams." So that while TRIS SPEAKER QUITS. CLEVELAND. Nov. (U.

These are Syracuse at Lincoln. October 29; Pittsburgh at ritfsburgh. November 12 and New York University at Lincoln Thanksgiving. Working backward from the Pitt game which is one of the three certainties, November 5, the preceding date seems best flttevi for Homecoming.

Kansas has played the Homeconb. ing game for many seasons and the' Jayhawkers HusKer.s have the longest tradition in Nebraska's list. Kansas has always plajed Nebraska lately around 25 and this date he the one se leoted again. HUSKERS TO TARE HEW ASSOCIATES? HINT THAT TWO CONFERENCES may be UP. One Thougrht If That Nebraska Be Turned Loose to Roam With Gophers, Badgers and Hawkeyes. By John Bentley. Journal Sporta Editor. B7NR0UTE HOME WITH CORN- HUSKERS SPECIAL, Nov.

How much longer are the big ten and Missouri Valley conferences going to last? Probably a question that few have thought of. H. D. Gish, acting director of Is predicting reorganization of both conferences and the is not so far distant, he thinks. Both conferences are top heavy and unwieldy from a football standpoint It is Impossible to declare a champion when it ia impossible for a team to play all the other teams In Its conference.

Therefore (Jish believes a five or stir team conference is the Ideal arrangement. He proposes that a possible re alignment might be made with these teams joining hands: Drake, Ames, Kansas, Kansas Aggies, Missouri and Nebraska. Another proposal and one hich would make one of the best tie-ups in the countT which Gish suggests would include Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Northwestern and Nebraska. This latter Is no pipe dream either. Minnesota has been getting the short end of it in the Big Ton and doubtless would lend encouragement to the plan.

With Nebraska and Mlnnesou loading the parade the others would undoubtedly fall Into Une. If nothing else this is certainly a thought for the day. The new alignments would not cause any traditional games of any of the schools to be dropped. The members of a slz-team conference could play all the other members and still have three open dates. In the live team conference there would be four dates open for non- conference members.

The Husker special stopped Sunday in Billings, Mont. Denver is the port of call on program and then home at 1:45 Tuesday. Coming back another week finds Syracuse at Lincoln Octobci 29. that means some game on foreign soil for October 22 and it just as well be the Kansas Aggies. Word that Grinnell would bo added to the Husker list makes the Pioneers a strong possibility for the October 15 date at Lincoln and will probably be played again as the second tilt of the season.

These figures are b-ised on the "One home and one awaj" arrangement That takes care of everybody except Iowa State. The Cyclones have a three year contract calling for games in but the Anu team Is said to be short on homo games and might seek release from the Lincoln game in order to get another tilt on its home gridiron. This makes possible another opening game with Ossie Solem's Drake Bulldogs. H. I).

Gish was given a chance to read these lines. He commented as follows: may be a good guesser and maybe not. There are three games correctly dated but ihe dates you have figured for other Valley elevens may prove horses from another riding academy. admit that the card outlined would be Ideal from our standpoint but few Ideal slates have ever gone thru." After the 21-21 tie with the Army and Carnegie 19 0 defeat of Notre Dame Saturday, the national championship as far as the winning and losing of games Is concerned, seems to be either Stanford or Alabama. Perhaps a few dissenting votes will go to Lafayette.

But neither one of these teams ha.s played a schedule that could give It an unlisputed championship.
