W. Hemphill enter- taihed a pretty miscellaneous i shower at the Pruitt home Friday evening in honor of Miss Lenore Rose, who will become the bride of M. M. Fishback this month. Very attractive decorations and novel ideas of entertainment were displayed at the affair.

The guest of honor received many handsome gifts. Late in the evening delicious refresh meats were served. At the table the date of the approaching wedding was formally announced as June 30. Gus Harmon is moving his blacksmith shop from the Frauzen property on North Glassell street to the vacant Medlock building two doors north. The new location has numerous advantages over lxis former place and makes a very neat looking shop.

GARDEN GROVE, June new six room and bath house which Mr Holm is building will be a valuable addition to Garden Grove. It is situated on the corner of Ocean Ave. and Fifth street. Mr. Holm recently bought the lot from Mr.

Miss Lola Chaffee spent the day with Miss Sherwood and the large number of friends arrived in the afternoon, and the surprise was complete. Miss Sherwood is to become a bride June 22. Mrs. Preston of Azusa spent a few hours with Mrs. Geo.

W. Rarnes Wednesday. Mrs. Preston is a sister of Mrs. J.

B. Price Ray Carmichael who has been attending Griuland College in Iowa, was welcomed home Friday morning. Mr. Ellis left Friday for Antelope Valley where he is drilling wells. Mrs.

Ellis was detained because of sickness but will join him as soon as possible. Mr. and Mrs. 11. C.

Powell and family who intended to leaw this week for their new home in Tulare, have been detained on the account ot sick ness but expect to leave next week. Miss Hazel Briggs and Hattie Brown visited the Santa Ana High School Friday. At a special meeting soon to lie called, members of the Lima Bean Association will decide on the future activity of the organization. The association's headquarters are at Oxnard, Ventura county, and in years past nearly all of the membership has been in Ventura county, while Orange county lias always furnished some members, the association never has had a stronk foothold among the growers of this county. June Children's Day program at the local church Sunday morning was a success in every, way. The recitations were above the average and 1 he singing was in keeping with the Day spirit, good crowd is always present on an occasion like this to see just how the program will be carried out. Several bridges have been put in: at the beet dumps where the bottle-' vard passes. They have been put in in time for iliem to settle before the heavy hauling of the beets. Since the boulevard lias been completed the travel through here has picked up considerably.

The stage men are busy advertising their schedule and they expect to run the stage through every hour, both in the direction of Huntington Beach and Santa Ana. Last Tuesday while Floyd Jones was returning from Santa on his motorcycle he came near having a very serious accident near the race track on the boulevard. He was riding at an ordinary rate of speed when iiis motorcycle ran from under him. The bruises Mr. Jones received were very painful.

Saturday at the home of G. Burns the wedding ceremony of Stanley Mussel and Bernice Burns was solemnized by Rev. J. Inwood of Santa Ana in the presence ot a few friends and relatives. Harvey Studebaker is spending this week visiting his sister, Mrs.
