III, Wednesday, Oct. 2, 1963 Auxiliary At Toulon Hears Report TOULON — Toulon American Legion Auxiliary Unit 416 met Wednesday night at the Legion building with Mrs. Genevieve Pyle, president, presiding. Fourteen members and two guests, Mrs. Paul Chilausky and daughter Rita, were present. Rita gave a report on her trip to Illinois State Girls State at Jacksonville in June. Mrs. Theo Doden, Girls State chairman, presented Rita with a gift. Officers not installed at the June meeting were installed. They were: Secretary, Lucille Talbert,' first vice president, Ella Zeigler; treasurer, Frances Durbin; sergeant-at-arms, Esther Macy. Fran Strom will be installed later as chaplain. Mrs. Pyle named the 1963-64 chairmen; Unit secretary, Lucille Talbert; Americanism, Ruth Wilson; loan fund, education, scholarship, Fran Strom; child welfare, Esther Macy; Civil Defense, Theo Doden, community service, Esther Macy; **>upons, Effie Bort; Girls State, Marguerite Gerard, Shirley Thome; Gold Star, Effie Bort; legislative and speakers bureau, Ruth Wilson; membership, Ella Zeigler; members liaison, music, Theo Doden; national security, Myrl Smith; Pan-American relations, Frances Durbin; past presidents' parley, Ruby Turnbull; poppy, Ilene Benedict; publicity, Charlotte Seay Ilene Benedict; radio, TV, Ilene Benedict, Charlotte Seay; reha bilitation, Lucille Talbert; revisions, Marguerite Gerard; vet's craft exchange, Lucille Talbert; sunshine chairman, Marguerite Gerard. Unit 416 received a certificate of honor for contributing to the nine point program. A card was received from Marge Robinson crediting the unit with $137 in clothing sent to veterans at Bartonville. Thank-you cards were read from Mrs. Lois Drake, Mrs. Charlotte Seay, Mrs. Ilene Benedict end family, and the family of Mrs. Margaret Humphrey. Notes of appreciation and contributions were received from A. V. and Floyd Norman and the Benedict family. Mrs. Ruby Turnbull reported onjher trip to the national con vention held at Miami Beach. The unit voted to raise dues to $1 in view of fact that national dues have been raised. Membership drive is now on with Mrs. Ella Zeigler as chairman. Quota is 94 members. Announcement was made of 16th District American Legion fall meeting to be held Saturday, Oct. 12, at Washington. Social committee for October is Mrs. Doden and Mrs. Gerard. Refreshments were served by Mrs. Zeigler and Mrs. Thome. Mr. and Mrs. Martin Frain of Chicago have retired and have moved to the home of her mother Mrs. Winnie Cinnamon in Toulon. Mrs. Merwin C.
