SAN FRANCISCO, Mar. western tennis girls have shown that as double players they are equal to the best in the country. The phenomenal victory of Mrs. Ethel Sutton Bruce of Los Angeles and Helen Baker of this city over Mrs. Wightman, the national champion, and Eleanor Goss of New York clearly places the coast doubles team in the first rank of women players.

The victory of the west over two such formidable players as the east put on the courts was not expected and the victory is all the more remarkable on the brand of tennis played. The eastern girls showed all the best there was in tennis and the western girls met them stroke for stroke. The game played last week at Berkeley was the most sensational and spectacular game ever seen on this coast. The eastern team admits in a fine spirit of sportsmanship that they played their best game and were beaten by a better team playing a better game than they showed. Register ads get resulta.
