Such will be the unanimous verdict of the people of Idaho the dedication on Memorial day of St Alphonsus hospital home for nurses the beautiful new one hundred fifty thousand dollar institution which has sprung up as by magic at the corner of Fourth and Washington streets in Boise Perhaps no city in the world the size of Boise can claim so fine a home for nurses equipped throughout gwlth ti: The following young women will be graduated from St: Alphonsus Training School for -Nurses Monday May SO: the fact that large institutions like St I Reading from left to right: Carmen Tolley Mary Brown-Lewers Clair 31 Howlett 3Iae Fairchild 3Iargaret £lphonsiie hospital are practically I Schuler and 3Iargaret Ackerman Miss Alaybelle Schuyler is also a member of the class i i built up under the 'direction and! 1 SSS'MEN WHODIKECTEDWOliK OFBUILDmG CATHEDRAL fill The early history of the establishment of the first Catholic church in the capital city has been told by Teresa native daughter of Idaho in graphic language She says: 1863 when the site of this beautiful little city was but a sagebrush plain dotted here and there with the crudest kind of buildings principally made of willows and peopled with the adventurous spirits lured on through all kinds of dangers and hardships in the search for gold it can we well Imagined that very little thought was given to religious worship so it seemed nothing less than providential that Boise in Its infancy should have been blessed by the establishment of our holy church Intuition attendant consolidation to the pioneers of our faith knowing that they had within their grasp all the rites of our holy religion in those hazardous times can never be fully estimated and the advent of the first priest in Boise reads like a page from a fairy tale beautiful summer afternoon my mother was standing outside of our log cabin which had just been completed when two travel-stained horsemen rode past She watched them as they approached out of Cottonwood gulch above the fort and as they came nearer she yet watched to attend others who are sick and in physical distress Who is there among us who does not believe that professional nurse or a student nurse is entitled-to whatever of material and recreational comfort that be given her for the long hours of watchfulness and care that she gives to the sendee of suffering humankind?
