The main drawback to such a scheme would be the uncertainty of the information furnished. It would he all right so long as it was in the right hands, but the trouble would be to keep it there. at the last session of our state legislature that was known as "The People's Lobby," and it did vice for the public.

No, the only sure way is for THE VOTER TO DEVOTE ENOUGH TIME AND ATTENTION TO SUCH THINGS TO ENABLE HIM TO ACT INTELLIGENTLY. There ought to be ways by which he may ascertain how to vote without taking much time from his business to size up the situation. This applies to all sides of of all questions, whether local, state or national, though not with the some certainty to the latter as to the former two.

What is the citizen to do in self against im say follow your course depends are. You must leaders before them without investigating as to whither they are leading. This again takes time that you are not willing to spare. It would be far better to take the necessary time to do this and thoroughly inform yourself on the main points in the controversy, but this discussion proceeds on the ground that you are not willing to do this. The vicious elements on the other hand are not required to do this.

They know who their leaders are and act on orders. You have to spend time on them in convincing them how to vote. It is not with them a question as to the best way to carry on the municipal, county or state government, hut how to get the most out of it. The word goes down the line and that settles it. This element is also at the polls early and late, for it means business to them.

This line of thought might be followed indefinitely, but to make a long story short, the following suggestions are now submitted: start out by following any one. Give first heed to the WORST MEN you can think of. Look over the men that you know' HAVE VICIOUS leanings. FIND OUT HOW THEY STAND or rather WHOM THEY" FOLLOW. See? Even if they 1 have no orders they know by instinct who their leaders They know' it much better than you do, and seldom make a mistake.

A Warning In view of the much discussed events of the past summer, let us consider the dangerous character of idle words; how they add fuel to the ilames of anger; how many heartaches they cause; how many times they have turned a friend into an enemy. Let us watch carefully and guard against those interior risings of evil spirit, that finally prompt us to the bitier use of our tongue. And especially let us beware of those foolish threats so many of us are in the habit of uttering against the helpless animals, when our reason tells us we would not actually commit such a deed.

But, oh, the power of habit! It is only one step from threatening an animal to uttering threats against our own kind. And let it he impressed upon our memory howr many have faced death; yea, and found death, on the strength ot a few misspoken words. Let us, mothers, reason together and resolve to be more careful of those threats toward our children, who look up to us with half-fearful believing. Consider the result of a threat and an immediate accident. Only a few' years ago a child in this county died believing that its mother had caused its death! Why? Simply because of the mother's continual harsh language and threats.

Oh, mothers and fathers, let us be warned in time, lest reproach walk by our side day and night. During this summer we have witnessed a very present example, of one who loved home, who was ever patient and tender to mother and family, who would trouble to ister chloroform to a suffering dog 3 SpG- that it might have a painless death, of whom numberless instances of kindness might be one we now see suffering not only the loss of one near and dear, but separa- tion from little children whom he had 1 most intimately and tenderly cared for, taken from a home he was sel- dom absent from, witnessing the suf- fering of tin aged and beloved moth- er, under the shadow of a fearful ac-1 cusation; and most probably all on the strength of a foolish threat, such I as you and I are too often guilty of. 1 Let us amend our today, i the accepted time. I idle word that men shall speak they shall give account there- us re- i joiee and be thankful that though we be judged by our words and judged by our (Revelation, that still when we come before the Great Father of our spirits, word shall divide asunder even the thoughts and intents of our (Hebrews and that He who is the Divine Trinity will judge us, not as the world judges, but in our threefold nature, of body, soul and spirit, as manifested by our works, our words and the secret thoughts and intents of our hearts. thy heart with all Prov.

They are telling a good story on a Santa Ana traveling guess who. His train arrived at destination at 6 a. m. He overslept and was obliged to leave the train only partially dressed. After completing his toilet he went to the best hotel in town, and, i being very hungry, a chronic condition of most traveling men, he ordered a tempting breakfast.

The first bite convinced him that he was no more able to eat it than he was when a month old. He had left his store teeth under his pillow in the sleeping car! He went to the depot to wire for his teeth and found three trains standing side by side. In a moment porters, conductors and brakemen were hunting through the trains for the lost teeth. Meantime, the passengers were giving the toothless salesman the horse laugh. Some one suggested asking the train dispatcher, who, when appealed to, located the car, which had been detached, and was under a shed on a side track.

The porter was still in his car and when asked about the teeth broke into a broad grin, showing a splendid Western Jubilee Singers auspices Epworth League of the First Church, Hall Tuesday Sept. 20 Eight great colored entertainers, Everyone a star, Tickets 35c and 50c, Children 25c, On sale after Saturday morning at White Cross Drug Store, hile visiting the Orange County set of ivories, which was proof he had Street Fair at Orange, Sept. 22 to 24,. appropriated the lost teeth to his don forget to call on Coones Co.
