SANTA ANA DAILY REGISTER, THURSDAY EVENING, NOVEMBER 7, 1918. PAGE FIVE dress. -O- WED AT RIVERSIDE Miss Catherine Cubbon and Clarence Skiles Principals at Morning Wedding A wedding ceremony, which will greatly interest Santa Ana and Orange county people, was solemnized yesterday morning at an impressive service performed by Rev. Van Dorling of All Episcopal church, at Riverside, when Miss Catherine Cubbon and Clarence B. Skiles became man and wife.

The bride is the only daughter of John Cubbon and the groom the son of Mr. and Mrs. L. B. Skiles, pioneer families of Santa Ana.

Miss Cubbon was horn in this city and both attended Santa Ana high school and had been schoolmates in the primary grades. The ceremony was witnessed by the bride's father, her aunt, Mrs. Margaret Warne and cousin, Miss Margaret Ore. Miss Ore stood with the bride ard her gave her in marriage. She wore a charming gown cf brown velvet with hat to match and the only ornament was a brooch, which was a wedding present from her father to her mother.

A wedding dinner was served at the Mission Inn after the ceremony. After a brief honeymoon, Mrs. Skiles will return here to make her home ith her father, as the groom has been called to service and will leave for Kelly Field next Monday. The marriage was hurried on this am ount. LET GIRLS CHOOSE Learn Lesson From Europe may learn a lesson from the social welfare war conditions in England and France, which have so I immeasurably improved (lie physical condition of their women workers, decreased the mortality among children, and secured still better working said Dr.

Woods Hutchinson yesterday before a meeting of the Maternity Service Association of Los Angeles, over which Dr. Olga McNiele, president, presided. Dr. Hutchinson said that the organization has taken the right step in working toward the idea that women are all taxpayers in one form or another, ar.d that the poor women should have a rieht to free hospital service and all necessary care at the time of childbirth. Despite the unusual conditions in England and France.

Dr. Hutchinson said, so scientifically and well are mothers and clr'ldren looked after there that the infant mortality in the former nation is lower than in America. O- PERSONALS Appearance Means a Great Deal In Happiness at School or Play Age has little or nothing to do with the feminine instinct, and at a very tender age little daughter demonstrates that she is a true daughter of Eve. It it doubtful if all parents really realize the extent to which a happiness at school and at play depends upon her clothes. Often mothers have but a faint conception of the ructions, jealousies and misery that seethe in the undercurrent of their school life, and most of them caused by the fact that some little maids do not feel or look as well as their more fortunate playmates.

Extravagance in the dressing of children is not only very foolish, but it is absolutely wrong. For not alone is unessential expenditure of money much to be deplored at this always as a matter of anything that savors of ostentation inculcates wrong ideals in the youthful On the other hand, every little one has a perfect right to be clad becomingly and in good taste, and the mother who is at all wise in her day and generation will see to it that her small maid's clothes conform to these reouirements. Simplicity is the order of the day. and point that cannot be emphasized too strongly to the receptive mind ot the young girl is that attention to detail does a great deal to make one look nice and that clean, white collars and unmussed ribbons will set off to good advantage the plainest little Mrs. Alba J.
