Tin: 1XDUUCMB.NTS OF TFAlS. Many people havo been induced to emigrate to Texas by advertisements making "liberal" oflcrslo those desiring employment or a home.

Tho following is taken from a letter written by a former Kansas man to Mr. A. M. Claflin, of this city, and gives an int-ight into the condition of affairs in tho interior ol Texas 1 supposo 3-011 will bo surprised to hear that I am in Texas. Well, I am surprised mysolf to think that 1 was so foolish as to leavo as good a homo as K.auas, and como here.

I Jcamo here with the intention of going to farming; tho planters wero advertising thnt they would furnish tho tenants land, comfortable dwelling0, team's, feed for teams, seed, farming implements, and fuel, also the ihc of one or two cows tho ten ant to give the planter half oT all crop- raised. After spending about two weeks looking around, I concluded not to farm any ir. a number of reasons, viz. 1st. The comfortable dwellings the' agree to aro nothing but miserable log huts.

2nJ. Tho team would bo a j-oko of oxlmi, or ono mule orpotu'; some of tho farmeis do all their plowing and cultivating with a single liorio or mule; and the feed for team was nothing more or less than the glass as it grows on tho prairie, ud. Tho farming implements consist of an eight inch plow, and shovel plow. I think twenty dollars would buy till the implements on an' ono plantation in this part of Texas. The seed the' iur-niih (corn and cotton) is a small item.

They will furnish you with firo wood but you must shop and haul them a load forovciy load -ou get. Some ol tho planters will let you have a ow to milk, if you go to tiiu I101 tn l'r. but it would lako about nine men and fourteen horses to get her, and it would tako about thrco cows to keep a family of two in milk. In Southern Tixas they raise corn and cotton, but nu small o-rain. it wi II not do woll hern.

lth tho farming implements they have here, ono man cannot cultivate 111010 than nine ac nine acres of corn, and nine of cotton. a good doal of hard snpnsies Texas and I want to emigrant Kansas. There wasnocon-lcmUnPiw cufion in the air. and not a pane of class was broken in tho city or on Ward', l.bnd. Immediately alter the ih fair Ucll Gate, each an si lo have the hen jr of first pass- in" over the eceno of tho explosion That tho work was effectually done is general feeling, and this also appears from tho fact that the polico boat passed over tho spot safely. Probably the finest view of tho whole explosion was from Hoyt's place, some 700 yards east of Point.

Tho ground is high, and Hell Gato dtd not appear more than 200 yards away. It was from this point thaL Ircnera ewton anu llic.ieieirrann kn! operators sent tho electric lima into tnc mtr.e. Suddenly a cloud of water turned into white spray and shot up just off Hal-lett's Point. This was followed by a cloud of black smoke, rocks, lumber, und at the same moment a heavy shock ran through tho ground, and gavo ono tho impression of being lifted about two inches. The sound of the explosion loud, but low, rumbling, and deep.

A cloud of yellow smoko followed the rocks, and in ten seconds the water had become again bvel, no traces being left but a large yellow paco caused by the mud and o'her substances thrown up. At tho works it was found that the coffer-dam which surrounded tho shaft was entirely gone. A small houso which Htood close by tho shaft was thrown a distance of len feet, but all tho other buildings were just as before tho explosion. Tho affair was a complet success, and tho whole reef was blown up. The tide has been materially changed by the explosion, and now the current sets directly on Big and Little Mill Rocks.

They will havo to bo exploded next. MISCELLANEOUS AD VS. FAULKNER WILDMAN, Real Estate, Loan AND IXSUKAXCJE AGENTS. MONEY TO LOAN On City nd Country Property. Homestead and Pre-Emphon Receipts Acciptul as sufficient evidence of title.
