44 THE INDEPENDENT Monday 17 November 2003 RAMA OF THE DAY Between the Sheets (9pm ITVI) Between the Sheets is not the first TV drama to revolve around a therapist (The Sopranos takes the credit for that), but it's probably the first to involve a sex therapist. This fruitful idea comes courtesy of Kay Mellor, author of Band of Gold, Fat Friends and the recent footballer-rapist drama Gifted. The therapy sessions have been telescoped for dramatic purposes, with resulting Footballers' Wives levels of plausibility; But if you can swallow the idea of Norman Wisdom playing a geriatric love god, you can probably take the rest Julie Graham (near right) is the therapist with inevitably relationship problems of her own, Brenda Blethyn and Alun Armstrong play married clients with no sex life, and Liz Smith is a 78-year-old grandmother who has just learnt the meaning of cunnilingus.
