BOSTON MUSIC The performance.s of the Castle Square Theatre company at Music Hall enjoyed immense favor with the public, and there is every evidence of a continued success In its present location during the balance of the summer season. The rnterpri.se shown by the management in the selection of and the admirable contrast provided In 'their arrangement continue to be praised by both subscribers and the general amusement public. The for the present week will be Charles Reade's dramatic version of Tennyson's poem of whidh made such a ncrtable success many years since In the old Glo.be Theatre, where it held the stage for the best part of an entire season.

The pastoral character of the play and Its picturesque scenes of country life in England In the latter part of the 18th century make this a dramatic attraction of rare interest to all classes of play patrons. The characters Introduced are strongly drawn, and Charles skill as a has given a series of scenes that have a fascinating intierest. The opportunities for realism in'the way of stage setting, will be fully improved by the Castle Square management In this production, which will follow in all es- details that w'hich held the favor of the Boston public a generation ago. The cast will be: Farmer Allan, Edmund Breese: William Allan, Euke Blomfield, Charles Mackay; Jem Blunt, Jjouis Thiel; Fhira Allan, Alary Hall: Mary Morrison. Katharine Clinton.

TREMONT THEATRE this condition of thinirs, the exi'ellence of the entei'tainment has had much to do with it, also, for the shows have been uniformly the best provided during any summer for many years. The list of entertainers for the coming week is most promising one. containing the usual nufnber of Edmund Hayes, who has first place after the special attractions.

is probably as talented a burlesque comedian as the vaudeville has ever known. Wise Guy, the one-act farce In which Hayes and his supporting company appear, is a most absurdly amusing creation, and has been received with roars of laughter everywhere it has been played. Little Elsie Janos Is usually referred to as pocket edition of Clssle and her impersonations of stage celebrities are very cleverly given, particularly In the matter of voice and gesture. Fred and Will I.eslie of Australia are the most prominent of the newcomers. As musical comedians the Leslie brothers are said to be the best who have ever come from abroad, and they are credited with scoring a big hit in New York and Philadelphia.

Monroe and Wesley are native products, the one a lilliputian comedian and the other probably the neatest step dancer in the country. They have been very successful during previous engagements at this house. Baker and Conn are and in a piece called Man from the which they presented here several months ago, made a big laughing hit. especially with a funny encore number. Kadiir Imperial Japanese troupe Is composed of as clever a lot of Oriental entertainers as has ever visited America.

In addition to the usual acrobatic stunts, tumbling, juggling, they also show a small troupe of well trained dogs that find special favor with the juveniles. The colored singers and dancers. John Barker. Yankee comedian, and Josie and Willie Barrows, dancing specialists, are others who will contribute to the continuous entertainment. The Fadettes continue their engagement with an entire change of selections, and new pictures will be added to the admirable series of tableaux vivants.

No terrors of hot weather or other de- pre.asing influences can apparently dim the lustre of the brilliant of at the Tremont. The ninth week of extraordinary prosperity closed with last performance and the warmest nights of the week were enjoyed by audiences that filled the theatre. In its second edition the frolicsome presentment shows still greater attractiveness than previously, and there is apparently no limit to the opportunities for embellishment afforded by the creation. The new members of the cast, without exception, have found favor AUSTIN Midsummer is here in earnest, but things are humming at Austin ik the same as if the weather were cooler The shows are greater, If possible, than during the regular season and the attendance during the past month has been the largest during June and July since the establishment of Austin IS years ago. A prime European novelty Is the booking for the leading attraction at the museum this week.
