The Salon Perm is on sale too Regularly now just 40 including cut shampoo and styling Call 248-9000 and ask for ydur appointment in the Beauty Salon The Saks Fifth Avenue Beauty Salon would like to welcome Mr Heinz Peters to their staff Juvenile Killer Free After 5-Year Term By Frances A McMorris Willie Bosket Jr whose 1978 murder spree on New York City subways at age 15 led to passage of a state law allowing juveniles to be tried as adults in serious cases has been released from prison a state law enforcement official said yesterday Bosket now 21 walked out of the McCormack Secure Center in upstate Brooktondale at about 10:30 AM Friday said the state official who asked not to be named "He was released Friday because he hit his 21st birthday" the official said Bosket of Harlem pleaded guilty to shooting in the head and killing two male subway riders during holdups and the attempted murder of a motorman during a 10-day spree of violence in March 1978 He was sentenced in June 1978 under the old family court laws to a maximum of 5 years in a juvenile institution A provision in the law permitted the state to hold him past that maximum until he turned 21 He could not be held under law past that age jQov Hugh Carey dropped his resistance to transferring some serious juvenile offenses into the adult criminal courts and the tougher juvenile crime lavra were passed and took effect later in 1978 After being sent to the maximum security facility at upstate Goshen Bosket escaped in December 1978 hoping that because he had reached the age of 16 he would serve less time if an escape conviction would negate the longer juvenile sentence said a city law-enforcement official He was tried as an adult on the escape charges and was sentenced to 4 years in state prison to be served at the same time as the juvenile sentence for the slayings The State Division for Youth brought legal action and forced Bosket to spend another year in a juvenile facility for the murders upon completion of his escape sentence He was released from the juvenile facility Friday Medal of Honor Winners At Ceremony on Carrier New York Mayor Edward I Koch presented the "key to the yesterday to 175 Medal of Honor winners including one from Levittown in the first permanent archive dedicated to recipients of the highest award for valor in combat Hie ceremony took place aboard the Intrepid Sea-Air-Space Museum which houses the new Hall of Honor exhibit "New York is proud to become the home of the Hall of Honor which truly belongs to all Americans" Koch said The mayor congratulated the winners for their "extraordinary contributions and the spirit that made them The dedication also marked the opening of the Medal of Honor annual convention The Intrepid museum which is docked in the Hudson River developed the new exhibit with the Medal of Honor Society to which all 259 living Medal of Honor winners belong Koch sounded a patriotic theme in a welcoming speech that praised the medal recipients as "the classiest people who have ever come to this because all had risked their lives for their country He spoke of a growing patriotism in the country particularly after the Grenada invasion The crowd applauded as he said of the Marines in Lebanon: "As long as they are there they should be given the strongest protection and whoever fires at them must know that their lives are at stake and that we will protect Among the medal winners attending was George Lang of Levittown He sat in his wheelchair and recalled the day in 1969 that he won his medal in a battle in the Mekong Delta He was leading a column of men when the enemy opened fire killing several in a parallel column Lang attacked two enemy bunkers destroying each and capturing a cache of weapons As he leaped a 10- to 12-foot ditch to attack a third bunker a piece of shrapnel hit him in the spine 1300 Franklin Avenue Carden City: open Monday through Saturday from 9:30 am to 9 pm Sunday from 12 noon to 5 pm NEWSDAY SUNDAY DECEMBER 11 TURK HT CAS!
